1926 – College of Idaho listed as champion; won 4 of 7 games in Whitman series ending 5/20. Conference playoff was scheduled CPS at C of I last week of May. CPS did not show up; C of I “awarded” championship, according to June 4 Caldwell Tribune story. By whom? Not known if C of I played any of Western Division teams. Only baseball mention in May 29, 1926 NWC minutes was one line: “resolution carried that baseball be ranked as a major sport.” No mention of baseball in Dec. ‘25 or Dec. ‘26 NWC minutes. No reference found in Tacoma papers about the playoffs trip, except for advance stories. No mention in Oregonian about C of I defending, or in Idaho Statesman about C of I repeat in 1927. 1927 – at Caldwell: 5/26 5/27 Pacific 000 030 001 – 5 6 6 College of Idaho 010 415 50x – 16 18 2 Edgar Rannow and Dean Fryer; Weldon Earwood and James Lyke.
