Each camper will have access to all of our facilities: professionally maintained infield (weather permitting), indoor facility, soft toss nets, tees, bullpens, and much more. In the case of inclement weather, we will be practicing in the Indoor Facility and be ready to go outside if weather is good. You need to be prepared! This will be the 1st year that Ballard Baseball offers players the opportunity to advance their skills in a highly evolved learning atmosphere during the pre-season! At every level the focus will be on fun as well as building a strong mechanical foundation in all facets of the game. How the game is taught and exposed to a child early on is extremely important to how that player will develop in the future. Mechanical problems that are not addressed at an early age are difficult to break later in life. The Ballard Baseball Camp will allow every player the opportunity to receive hands-on advice from experienced teachers of the game. The instructional program is as follows: THE FACILITIES The Ballard Baseball Field is the 2006 Baseball Coaches Association National High School Baseball Field of the Year. The field was 1 of 8 regional finalists around the country for 2006 and ended up rated the #1 field in the nation. Ballard Baseball also included the construction of an Indoor Facility in January 2007 on campus. Other improvements included the addition of lights to the field in 2004 and a clubhouse in 1996. Ballard has the best all-around baseball facilities than any other high school in the Louisville area. THE PROGRAM In 1993 Ballard High School made a commitment to turn the baseball program into a Kentucky high school power. Through the hard work of many individuals, Ballard not only has constructed a beautiful on-campus field, but college level teaching facilities (both outdoors and indoors) that are unprecedented in the region. The quick growth of the Ballard Baseball program came from a philosophy spawned by the Ballard Baseball staff to develop a strong teaching atmosphere and to transform all of our players into students of the game. This education, along with a strong work ethic, discipline, and talent, go a long way in baseball and in life. This attitude is also the foundation of the Ballard Baseball Camp. This is a camp geared to any interested player, whether he is a little leaguer wishing to get more enjoyment out of the game by improving his play, or a middle school player who wishes to CAMPERS NEED: Glove Bat (batting gloves if you use them) Shoes for inside and outside Catchers need to bring their equipment Proper clothes (we will go outside if dry) Athletic supporter Snack to keep their energy up INFIELD—Basic fielding, throwing, footwork, charging the ball, double play work, relay & cut-off work, tag work, run downs, pop-ups OUTFIELD—Basic catching, throwing, angles, approaches, sun work, fence work, footwork Name Address City Zip Telephone Grade - Fall 2007 Age Position One Position Two Height Weight Detach player information with parental consent and mail with check payable to: GREG GILBERT BALLAD BASEBALL CAMP 4237 Brownsboro Glen Road Louisville, KY 40241 CAMP FEE: $100.00 THE 1st ANNUAL BALLARD BASEBALL WINTER CAMP 3rd – 5th Grades January 5th, 12th, 26th, February 2nd and 9th 10:00am-12:30pm --------------------------------- BALLARD BASEBALL CAMP Coaching staff HEAD COACH GREG GILBERT Former Eastern Kentucky University outfielder and 7th year as head coach 6th – 8th Grades January 5th, 12th, 26th, February 2nd and 9th 12:30pm-3:00pm Which Camp do you want to attend? 3rd-5th Grade 6th-8th Grade Assistant Coaches and Staff 11th BRAD JONES Year High School Pitching Coach and 6th year on Ballard Staff Ballard Baseball What a Program! 27th & 28th District Champions 1991, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 07 All campers must provide proof of accident insurance coverage for any injury incurred while attending the Ballard Baseball Camp.
