The Research Proposal Format
Research proposal shall address the following:
1‐ Introduction (2‐3 pages): the problem statement, background information, and
current literature review.
2‐ The statement of the problem (1 page): This section presents a concise statement of
the core issue/s being explored or knowledge deficits being addressed, outcomes and
results likely to be found. The section needs to be supported with available literature
and/ or official statistics and other reliable data if possible.
3‐ Research Objectives (1 page): The research objective section describes the expected
ways by which existing knowledge and/or notions about the topic will be enhanced;
and how will this enhanced knowledge lead to positive actions and/ or solutions.
4‐ Research Methodology (2‐3 pages): This should present an outline and brief
discussion of the way the research will be conducted. Included in this part are the
sources, types and forms of data needed to fulfill the tasks and objectives set in the
research project, the method of selecting the data (including sampling design when
appropriate) and the methods of collecting, reducing and analyzing the data.
5‐ Research Outcomes (1 page): This part should provide information about
implications and expected importance of the research outcomes for the advancement
of e‐learning in the region. It should show how the community and practitioners in the
field can benefit from the findings.
6‐ Finding Communication Approach (1\2 page): These 2‐3 paragraphs should present
a plan on how the researcher is planning on communicating the findings of the
research to a wider audience or public within the region as well as internationally.
7‐ References List (no limitation in number of pages): A list of all references included in
the proposal, please see Appendix I for details on the referencing mechanism.
