“WILDFLOWERS” by keara

Machine Embroidered Applique
Supply List

These are beautiful designs that show amazing detail in the digitizing, and you will want to stitch
them on many projects. For class you will do one design of your choice of the six designs (time
might allow for two). The sample shows three done in batiks, and stitched into a simple
wallhanging. Directions for a quilt, plus smaller designs called ―Wildflowers in the Shade‖ are
included in the package. You will need to purchase the design pack ―Wildflowers‖ by Smith
Street Designs, available at our store for class discounted price.

Bring: Embroidery machine with power cord and embroidery unit
Embroidery hoop for 5‖ X 7‖ or larger (designs are a bit bigger in most cases)
Smaller formats are included for 4‖ X 4‖ hoops
Media for design transfer (USB, disk, cord etc) or have the designs ready to stitch
   Embroidery Threads
   Bobbin Thread
Fabric for the backgrounds—not too ―busy‖ –a fat quarter will work fine
Small fabric pieces for the flowers in your color choices—again not too ―busy‖
Sticky stabilizer large enough for your hoop
   Lightweight tear-away
   Steam-A-Seam II
Small iron if possible (for pressing in the hoop)
   Scissors and basic sewing supplies

There are three ways to do machine embroidered applique, and in this class you will do the
designer’s recommended technique, which involves tracing the design shapes, fusing and cutting
and then adding them to your background—it is fun!! I will also share the other techniques for
doing this type of project.
