To address the medical concerns of student athletes in the Intercollegiate Athletics Program; to provide
medical care to students at the DeWeese Health Center.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide student athletes with medical care on an on-call basis and at all varsity sports contests.
Perform pre-entry physical examinations for student athletes; serve as final authority in determining
eligibility to participate in varsity athletics.
Provide medical care to student body on a part-time basis.
Coordinate and conduct the athletic drug testing program; maintain confidentiality of test results and
provide referrals for counseling.
Maintain admitting privileges at local hospital or medical center.
Assist trainers and coaches in development and implementation of programs in nutrition, conditioning,
weight loss/gain, eating disorders, environmental conditions, and other health related concerns.
Provide students and student athletes with referrals to outside physicians.
Perform related duties as assigned.

LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION:
Leadership of a small department, unit, or major function and/or direct supervision over
Athletic Team Physician
Education and Experience:
M.D. or D.O.; two to three years residency training; experience working in cooperation with athletic
trainers, physical therapists, nutritionists, coaches, and other physicians; licensed in the State of
Ohio; Board Certified in Family Practice or Sports Medicine.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skill in written and interpersonal communication.
Ability to travel and work non-traditional hours; manage people and projects.
