Official Start Date of the 2004-2005 Cadet Training Year.
Cadets who reached the age of 13 years prior to this date must be discharged. Cadets who turn 13 years old on September 1st or after, may remain enrolled for 2004-2005. New Cadets may join at age 9, (Training year runs from 01 Sept – 31 Aug). Children who are not 9 as of September 1st, 2004 must wait until their 9th birthday to enroll.

October 2, 2004 Applications for Promotions/Screening
Deadline for Application for Promotions/Screening
• To provide more effective management of the application/screening process between Division and National Office a deadline of October 2nd, 2004 has been suggested by the Division Commander. • Applications for promotions can be received to National Office up to 6-months prior to the actual promotion date. • Please submit to the Division Commander all Promotion Applications – NL(201) and Screening Applications – NL(101), including certificate of conduct at this years AGM. • Please remember to include the promotion effective date on applications. • Volunteer Screening Forms must be submitted for all new Officer’s/Civilian Instructors and current Officer’s who are up for re-screening. • Any questions can be forwarded to CDR(NL) Jones.

To be held at the Airport Plaza - St. John’s. Registration Fee-$35.00; includes meal & dinner. Hotel Rooms-$82.00 (single/double). Delegates are asked to contact the Airport Plaza at 753-3500 and book under the block reserved for the “Navy League of Canada”. Meet and Greet on Friday Night, Meetings & Banquet on Saturday, Departure on Sunday. Registration Forms and Agenda have been sent to all corps/sponsors. Representatives from Branches/Sponsors are encouraged to attend.

October 16, 2004 Senior Cadet Training Seminar

EVENT
One session will take place at HMCS Cabot Naval Reserve in St. John’s and one session will take place in Gander at the Lion’s Club (DTA). The time for both sessions is 0900 – 1630; Meals provided. Dress: -Cadets: Full Cadet Uniform -Officers (Instructors): Salt n’ Peppers (Dress Uniform Trousers/Skirt, shoes or boots, Dress Cap/Bowler, sweater (optional); long sleeve and tie; no berets). Cadet Names participating in seminar must be forwarded to the Division Commander by October 9th, 2004. (Please include cadet rank/position)

• • • • • Initiated by Cdr Reddy/Chief Desorcy – CFS St. John’s Location: Drill Hall – CFS St. John’s Time: 1900-2200hrs. Prize for best Custom. Transportation to be arranged by CFS St. Johns for corps traveling from out of town. (within certain distance) • All corps to resume responsibility (canteen, music, supervision, cleanup, etc) • This is an intercorps fundraising initiative. All profits will be divided equally between all participating corps. Further discussion will take place at this years AGM.

Remembrance Day – Parade and Ceremonies in Various Communities Division Officers Training Program

Level One – November 13th (0830 – 1630) Level Two – November 14th (0830 – 1630) – Includes those completing Level One. Level Three – November 13th and 14th (0830 – 1630) Level Four – November 13th (0830 – 1630)
Scheduled to be held at HMCS Cabot Naval Reserve Complex – South Side St. John’s Health and Community Services – St. John’s Region including information on Child, Youth and Family Services, etc. (Presentation) Meals will be provided. Levels provided will depend on requirements. Participants: Salt n’ Peppers (Dress Uniform Trousers, boots, short sleeve shirt, Dress Cap/Bowler, sweater (optional); no berets. All participants to wear boots for parade training. Instructors: Salt n’ Peppers. Female Instructors may wear skirt and shoes, and males may wear shoes. Instructors will wear long sleeve and tie in lieu of short sleeve shirt.

St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid Course - For NL Officers
To be held at Pleasantville (Home of NLCC Fort Pepperrell). Session will run from 0830 – 1630 hours on both days. Meals will be provided. The NF & LAB Division will cover a portion of the cost of registration for 1 Officer per Corps (registration $100.00 per participant). Corps may register additional Officers at the cost of the local branch/corps. Details on cost coverage to be announced pending budget allocations.
Dress: Civilian (Casual) Clothing.

Nominations: Deadline for ALL Award Applications

There are a variety of interpretations on when Award Applications are due since the dates listed in various publications (e.g. Administrative Orders) often conflict with those listed in minutes, etc. Also, deadlines are different for the different types of awards, and different for the division vs. national office. In an effort to simplify this process, Navy League Cadet Corps will go with a single date to be used as the deadline for ALL Awards Applications. January 30th will henceforth be known as the deadline for receipt of all nominations for various awards. NL (104) is to be used for all award nominations. Cadet Training Standards Exam

Common Exam for 3rd Year Cadets who have completed the NL Cadet training program. Location: Royal Canadian Legion Branch 64, Brigus (Home of 119 NLCC Vickers Vimy) Exam to run from 1400 – 1630 hours. An Officer from each corps must be present with their cadets during the exam. Cadets from 190 NLCC Clyde to be billeted with 83 NLCC Northern Ranger. (Alternate arrangements may be made)

3rd Navy League Cadet Training Camp (NLCTC)! Camp to be held at (Location to be Announced). Cadets to be assigned to integrated divisions and training programs based on cadet training level. (Boatswain, Gunnery, Leadership) NLCTC to run as a single unit with Officers appointed to various positions as a result of the “Call for Expressions of Interest and Availability.” Camp Fees (will be confirmed). Budget will be used to cover costs of travel, training supplies, officer accommodations, etc. Each Corps and/or cadet is responsible to cover the cost of individual camp fees. (Corps may do various fund-raisers or cadets may be responsible to cover cost of their fee. Further details to be provided throughout the training year.
