Career Planning Our records show that you are undecided about a program or major or want to verify a choice you have made. The selection of a major and a career are important elements of your college experience. These choices can make a significant difference in the educational program you pursue and the specific courses you will take within your program of choice. FCCJ’s counselors are trained to provide you with professional career and educational planning assistance. You are encouraged to make use of their assistance. One way to begin this process is to utilize the Career Goals booklet, available in your campus Counseling and Advising Office. Career Goals provides a framework for career exploration, leading you through a process of understanding career planning, self-assessment, career exploration, reality testing, decision making, and goal setting. As a part of this framework, you will be using a state-of-the-art online career exploration system (Choices Planner) that will help you match your characteristics with different careers. Choices Planner will also provide you with valuable information about careers you want to explore, including typical job titles and job tasks, working environment, educational requirements, job outlook for the next 10 years, and starting salaries. When you meet with your academic advisor or counselor, please ask for your personal copy of Career Goals and start planning your future. (NOTE: When available online, this resource will be offered.)
