FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 Gannett names Robbins president, publisher of Richmond, IN newspaper McLEAN, VA – Robert E. (Bob) Robbins today was appointed president and publisher of the Palladium-Item in Richmond, IN. Robbins has been president of Gannett’s Newspaper Network of Central Ohio (NNCO) and president and publisher of The Newark (OH) Advocate. “Bob is a great fit for the Palladium-Item. Not only is he an award-winning publisher with strong business skills, he also is a native of Richmond and held his first newspaper job there,” said Sue Clark-Johnson, president of Gannett’s Newspaper Division. “It’s always great to promote talented people; in this case, it’s a double pleasure to help Bob return to a newspaper and a community he loves and understands.” A replacement for Robbins at the NNCO will be named shortly. Robbins began his career as a paper checker at the Palladium-Item in 1969 and held various positions in the Finance Department there. He was named controller at the Chronicle Tribune in Marion, IN in 1977 and became controller at the Clarion Ledger in Jackson, MS in 1984. In 1988, he was named president and publisher of the Hattiesburg (MS) American, returning to Gannett the following year as president and publisher of the Clarion Ledger. He has held various publisher and group vice president positions since in New Jersey, Washington and Wisconsin. He became president of the NNCO in 2004.
