Pack 235 By-laws
Pack Meetings
Pack 235 will meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month from September through May
at Thomas Elementary School Gym. The Meeting will begin promptly at 7:00
p.m.
During the year, there will be occasions where the pack meeting will need to be
moved to another day or when other activities such as Blue & Gold or the
Pinewood Derby will replace the normal monthly pack meeting. Any changes to
the standard monthly pack meeting will be published in the Pack Calendar and
announced at the preceding Pack Meeting.
Dens that are in charge of set-up and/or opening ceremonies should arrive at
6:30 p.m. Dens that are responsible for clean-up, should plan on staying for
30 minutes after the meeting.

Scout Uniforms
The Class "A" uniform will consist of:
Scout shirt with proper insignias.
Scout neckerchief with slide
Scout shorts or pants/Scout belt/Scout socks OR Blue jeans/Scout belt/ Socks
Close toed shoes
The Class "A" uniform is to be worn to:
All Den & Pack meetings and to school on the day of the Den & Pack meetings.
All field trips, official pack, district and council functions. (Popcorn sales,
Scouting for Food.)
The Class "B" uniform will consist of :
Scout T-shirt
Shorts or jeans
Socks
Close toes shoes
The Class "B" uniform can be worn to:
Informal Den and Pack functions
Dad-n-Lad, Mom „n‟ Me and Webelos Camps
Cubmaster, Assistant Cubmaster, Den Leaders and Assistant Den Leaders are
asked to wear their uniforms to all functions as well.

Pack Registration Dues
“The annual registration fee for all Scouts in Pack 235 will be determined and
approved by the Pack Committee at a Committee meeting proceeding School
Night for Scouting. (This amount includes BSA registration and Boys Life
subscription. The remainder is placed in the Pack General Fund) The Pack
General Fund is used for Pack activities and purchase of individual advancement
awards.
All fees are due at the first Pack meeting in September for current pack members
and at School Night for Scouting for new members.
Den dues will be handled by the Den Leaders and Parents within each Den based
on activities and cost for materials.

Refunds: After a 10-day waiting period, Pack Dues are refundable should a scout
seek to leave the pack. Boy Scout Dues and Boy's Life fees are not refundable.

Pack Fund Raisers
Fund Raising activities constitute the major income for the pack. Therefore, the
pack committee requests full support by parents for all fund raising activities

Financial Reporting
The Pack Treasurer will balance the Pack bank account and Petty Cash box on a
monthly basis. A financial statement including beginning balance, purchases,
deposits and ending balance will be presented on a monthly basis at the Pack
Committee Meeting.
AUDIT: Pack 235 will have an audit of the books yearly.
Audit should be comprised of 4 den or assistant den leaders of different level
rank to be picked by the Committee Chair or Assistant Committee Chair.
The audit team will obtain the records from the treasurer the day of the audit
or just a few days prior to the scheduled audit.
All receipts for the previous year should be turned into the Treasurer prior to
the audit.
Any person or persons who have signing privileges for Pack 235 checkbook
will not be allowed to serve on the Audit Team.
Time of Audit should be scheduled prior to the Parent Leader Committee
meeting the month of Elections; ie; if elections are held @ the April PLM then
the audit should be scheduled early that month.
Once the audit is complete the Audit Team will review their findings with the
Treasurer and the Committee Chair &/or Assistant Committee Chair.
BUDGET: A yearly budget shall be determined for the Pack to follow.
Budget Team will consist of: The Audit Team, Treasurer, Committee Chair
&/or Assistant Committee Chair
Budget planning team should set the budget immediately following the review
of the Audit Teams findings.
Budget should consist of an estimate of what Pack 235 spent and is expected
to spend in the up coming year. All of the following and any additions or
deletions should be considered: Arrow of Light Plaques, Awards, Blue & Gold, Pack
meetings at the park, Pack meetings at the gym, Parade, Pinewood Derby, Re-charter,
School Night for Scouting, Storage Unit
The temporary budgets set by the Budget Team should be presented at the
next PLM following the Budget Team meeting and is then approved by the
committee.
The $ amounts set for the individual activities should be given to the newly
elected officers and committee members who will be planning the functions
they were elected to head.
Pack Financial Duties
All reimbursements made from the Pack account and/or Petty Cash, must be
approved by any of the following: Cubmaster, Asst. Cubmaster, Committee
Chairman, Treasurer, and Awards Chairman.
The Pack Treasurer will be ultimately responsible for money handling on all Pack
related fund raising activities.

Attendance
Each scout is eligible for an award if he is present at 90% of the Pack meetings
and 85% of the den meetings. There are no excused absences. All boys will
receive membership pins at the end of the year, if their attendance signifies an
exemplary attendance record.
Each scout that attends 3 Pack or District level Summer Activities functions or a
combination of 3 scout events will receive the Summertime Pack Attendance
Award.

Awards
Scouts are responsible for seeing that their books get turned in to their Den
Leaders at least 2 weeks prior to the monthly pack meeting in order to receive
their awards, badges, pins, etc. at that Pack meeting. If a boy does not turn in the
book, or information, the Den Leader cannot turn in the award request to the
Awards Chairman.
The Den Leader must turn in the list of awards to the Awards Chairman nine (9)
days prior to the Pack Meeting. Any awards not turned in by this time will not be
given out until the following Pack meeting.
Although it is initially the responsibility of the scout to see that he receives credit
for his achievement, parents, we encourage you to help him to complete his
achievements in time for any Pack deadlines. Please do not expect us to extend
our deadlines under any circumstances.

Committee
The Committee is responsible for the daily operations of the pack. Any Leader or
parent that is present at the committee meeting is considered a voting member of
the committee. All Official Committee positions and activities must be approved
by a majority vote of the committee. In the event of a tie vote, the Committee
Chairman will make the final decision.
Regardless of the size of the pack committee, these responsibilities must be
carried out:
Recruit the Cubmaster and one or more assistant Cubmasters.
Recruit parents for Committee positions on a yearly basis.
Provide adequate and safe facilities for pack meetings.
Coordinate the pack program with the program of the chartered
organization through the chartered organization representative.

Assist with pack charter renewal.
Help to stimulate the interest of parents through proper programming.
Supervise finances and equipment.
Direct Cubmaster in Pack activities.
Ensure that Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts receive a year-round, quality
program.
Complete Pack Committee Fast Start Training and Cub Scout Leader Basic
Training.
All registered adults MUST possess a current Youth Protection Training
certificate.
Cooperate with other Scouting units.
A strong pack committee will have individual members assigned to such areas as
record keeping and correspondence, finances, advancement, training, public
relations, and membership and re-registration. The pack committee chairman
decides how the responsibilities should be divided and gives committee members
assignments.
The Committee jobs are classified into three categories, Full Time, Part Time, and
Short Term positions. These are defined as follows:
Full Time: These are positions which requires a full year commitment and a
more than fair amount of time involved in planning and carrying
out the functions of the position. Full Time positions include but
are not limited to the following: Committee Chairman, Cubmaster,
Awards Chairman, Asst. Committee Chairman, Asst. Cubmaster,
Den Leader and Webelos Den Leader.
Full Time positions are allowed to take on the additional responsibility of only
ONE (1) Short Term position during their term. They may not take on the
additional responsibility of a Part time OR an additional Full Time position.
Part Time: These are positions which requires a full year commitment and very
little time involved in planning and carrying out the functions of the
position. Part Time positions include but are not limited to the
following: Treasurer, Membership Chairman, Secretary, Webelos
Coach, Den Leader Coach, Tiger Cub Coach, Asst. Den Leader, and
Asst. Webelos Den Leader. Holders of a Part Time position may
take on the additional responsibility of only ONE (1) additional Part
Time Position or ONE (1) Short Term Position.
Short Term: These are positions which requires a 1-2 month commitment with a
lot of time involved in planning and carrying out the functions of
the position during that 1-2 month period. Short Term positions
include but are not limited to the following: Pinewood Derby
Chairman, Blue and Gold Chairman, Campout Chairman, Summer

Activities Chairman, Scout Show Chairman, Popcorn Kernal, Pack
Photographer. Holders of Short Term positions may also hold as
many other Short Term positions as they and the committee think
they can handle.
All positions shown above are limited to a one-year commitment with exceptions
as noted under each job description shown below. Nominations for each position
will be taken at any time. The nomination MUST be seconded and the
nomination then accepted by the nominee. Then a Majority vote of the
committee MUST be made in order for a job to be filled.
Elections for all positions, with the exception of Den Leaders and Assistant Den
Leaders, will be held in May at the end of each Scouting / School Year.
If a position comes open during the year or has not been filled for some reason,
the Committee may hold a special election for the Nomination / Voting process to
fill the position.
Note: Since Den Leaders and Assistant Den Leaders are Den Level Leaders, it is
the responsibility of the Den Leaders and the parents within the den to decide on
den leadership responsibilities at the den level. The committee will only get
involved with Den Leadership duties if there is a problem or concern brought to
the Committee's attention.

POSITIONS
Official Committee Positions
Chartered Organization Representative: (Part Time Position)
The Chartered Organization Representative's job is to:
Attend Monthly Committee Meetings.
Help recruit the right leadership for the unit.
Encourage unit leaders and committee members to take training.
Promote well-planned unit programs.
Serve as a liaison between the units and the organization.
Promote the recruiting of new members.
See that the boys graduate from unit to unit.
Assist with the re-chartering.
Suggest Good Turns for the organization.
Encourage the unit committee to hold meetings.
Cultivate organization leaders.
Encourage outdoor program activities.
Emphasize advancement and recognition.
Bring district help and promote the use of district personnel and materials.

Use approved unit finance policies.
Encourage recognition of leaders.
Cultivate resources to support the organization.
Represent the organization at the council level.
Possess a current Youth Protection Training certificate.
The chartered organization representative is the direct contact between the pack
and the chartered organization. This individual is also the organization's contact
with the district committee and the local council.
Length of Term and Term Limits:
The Chartered Organization Representative may also hold any other position
within the Pack Committee with the exception of Cubmaster. This position is
limited to a one year term but may serve successive terms if the holder of the
position and the Pack Committee approves this by nomination, accepting of the
nomination and majority vote of the Committee.
Committee Chairman: (Full Time position)
The pack committee chairman's job is to:
Attend Monthly Committee Meetings.
Maintain a close relationship with the chartered organization
representative, keeping this key person informed of the needs of the pack
that must be brought to the attention of the organization or the district.
Report to the chartered organization to cultivate harmonious relations.
Supervise pack committee operation by:
o Calling and presiding at pack leaders' meetings
o Assigning duties to, and training, committee members
o Planning for pack charter review, roundup, and re-registration
o Approving bills before payment by the pack treasurer
Conduct the annual pack program planning conference and pack leaders'
meetings.
Complete Pack Committee Fast Start Training and Cub Scout Leader Basic
Training, which is comprised of New Leader Essentials and the
appropriate Leader Specific Training.
Ask the committee to assist with recommendations for Cubmaster,
assistant Cubmasters, den leader coaches, Webelos den leaders, and den
leaders, as needed.
Recognize the need for more dens, and see that new dens are formed as
needed.
Work with the chartered organization representative to provide adequate
and safe facilities for pack meetings.
Work with the Treasurer on council-approved money earning projects so
the pack can earn money for materials and equipment.
Manage finances through adequate financial records.

Maintain adequate pack records and take care of pack property.
If the Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster(s) are unable to serve, assume
active direction of the pack until a successor is recruited and registered.
Develop and maintain strong pack-troop relationships, sharing with the
troop committee the need for graduations into the troop.
Work closely with the unit commissioner and other pack and troop leaders
in effecting a smooth transition of Webelos Scouts into the troop.
Help bring families together at joint activities for Webelos dens (or packs)
and Boy Scout troops.
Support the policies of the Boy Scouts of America.
Possess a current Youth Protection Training certificate.
Length of Term and Term Limits:
The Committee Chairman may not hold ANY other Full Time or Part Time
position within the Pack Committee with the exception of Chartered Organization
Representative as outlined by BSA guidelines. The Committee Chairman may
hold one (1) Short Term position during this term. This position is limited to a
one year term, and though it is not recommended, may serve successive terms if
the holder of the position and the Pack Committee approves this by nomination,
accepting of the nomination and majority vote of the Committee.
Assistant Committee Chairman: (Part Time Position)
The Assistant Committee Chairman's job is to:
Attend Monthly Committee Meetings.
Support the Committee Chairman's position.
Be ready to fill Committee Chairman's position.
Possess a current Youth Protection Training certificate.
Length of Term and Term Limits:
The Assistant Committee Chairman may not hold ANY other Full Time or Part
Time position within the Pack Committee with the exception of Chartered
Organization Representative.
The Assistant Committee Chairman may hold one (1) Short Term position during
this term. This position is limited to a one year term, and though it is not
recommended, may serve successive terms if the holder of the position and the
Pack Committee approves this by nomination, accepting of the nomination and
majority vote of the Committee.

Cubmaster: (Full Time Position)
The Cubmaster's job is to:
Attend Monthly Committee Meetings.
Conduct a pack program according to the policies of the Boy Scouts of
America.
Complete Cubmaster Fast Start Training and Cub Scout Leader Basic
Training, which is comprised of New Leader Essentials and the
appropriate Leader Specific Training.
Possess a current Youth Protection Training certificate.
Complete the Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) training.
Attend monthly roundtables.
Plan and help carry out the Cub Scout program in the pack. This includes
leading the monthly pack meeting, with the help of other leaders and
Coordinate activities for outdoor events such as Camp outs, etc.
Know about and use literature of the program, including Boys' Life and
Scouting magazines and Cub Scout and Webelos Scout Program Helps.
Work with the pack committee on (1) program ideas, (2) selecting and
recruiting adult leaders, and (3) establishing a budget plan.
Help establish and maintain good relationships with Boy Scout troops.
Maintain good relationships with parents. Seek their support and include
them in activities. Involve male relatives such as uncles and grandfathers,
so Cub Scouts will have additional male role models.
See that Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts receive a quality, year-round
program filled with fun and activities that qualify the dens and pack for the
National Summertime Pack Award.
Guide Cub Scouts in goodwill and conservation projects.
See that the responsibilities specified for the assistant Cubmaster are
carried out.
Assist the pack committee chairman in conducting the annual pack
program planning conference and the monthly pack leader meetings.
Work as a team with the pack committee chairman to cultivate, educate,
and motivate all pack leaders and parents in Cub Scouting.
Conduct an impressive graduation ceremony for Tiger Cubs.
Assist in planning and conducting stimulating graduation ceremonies
involving parents, the Scoutmaster, the Webelos den chief, Webelos den
leader, and troop junior leaders.
Conduct impressive Webelos den induction and Arrow of Light Award
ceremonies.
Encourage high advancement standards for Cub Scouts and Webelos
Scouts.
Help bring families together at joint activities for Webelos dens (or packs)
and Boy Scout troops.

In general, the Cubmaster is main “figure head” for the pack, the guiding hand
behind the work of other pack leaders and serves as program adviser to the pack
committee-a recruiter, a planner, a motivator of other leaders. The
responsibilities can be boiled down to the following:
1. Work directly with the den leader coach, Tiger Cub coach, Cub Scout den
leaders, Webelos den leaders, den chiefs, and pack committee chairman
and members to make sure all dens are functioning well.
2. Plan the pack programs with the help of other leaders.
3. Lead the monthly pack meeting with the help of others. Involve all dens in
some way.
Everything the Cubmaster does is aimed at helping the individual boy. Securing
strong leaders, planning den and pack activities, advising other leaders and
parents. These are all ways in which the Cubmaster affects the kind of Cub
Scouting each boy in the pack is offered. Although this job is an executive
position, the Cubmaster has direct influence on the lives of individual boys by
keeping in mind that boys can be made better through Cub Scouting.
Length of Term and Term Limits:
The Cubmaster cannot hold ANY other Full Time or Part Time or Short Term
positions within the Pack Committee. This position is limited to a one year term,
and though it is not recommended, may serve successive terms if the holder of
the position and the Pack
Committee approves this by nomination, accepting of the nomination and
majority vote of the Committee.
Assistant Cubmaster: (Part Time Position)
An assistant Cubmaster's responsibilities (as designated by the Cubmaster) are
to:
Attend Monthly Committee Meetings.
Assist the Cubmaster as needed. Be ready to fill in for the Cubmaster, if
necessary.
Complete Cubmaster Fast Start Training and Cub Scout Leader Basic
Training, which is comprised of New Leader Essentials and the
appropriate Leader Specific Training.
Complete the Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) training.
Possess a current Youth Protection Training certificate.
Attend monthly roundtables.
Participate in pack meetings.
Help inform pack leaders of training opportunities and arrange for them
to attend training sessions.
Work with the pack committee to develop and promote an ongoing plan
for recruiting new boys.
Work with the pack committee on pack re-registration.

Assist in pack activities such as dinners, pinewood derbies, bike safety
workshops, service projects, etc.
Work with the pack committee on outings to see that the pack and dens
qualify for the National Summertime Pack Award.
Participate in the annual pack program planning conference and pack
leader meetings.
Promote the religious emblems programs for Cub Scouts of all faiths.
Length of Term and Term Limits:
The Assistant Cubmaster may not hold ANY other Full Time or Part Time
position within the Pack Committee with the exception of Chartered Organization
Representative.
The Assistant Cubmaster may hold one (1) Short Term position during this term.
This position is limited to a one year term, and though it is not recommended,
may serve successive terms if the holder of the position and the Pack Committee
approves this by nomination, accepting of the nomination and majority vote of
the Committee.
Treasurer: (Part Time Position)
The Treasurer's job is to:
Possess a current Youth Protection Training certificate.
Attend Monthly Committee Meetings.
Help the pack committee establish a sound financial program for the pack
with a pack budget plan.
Open and maintain a bank account in the pack‟s name and arrange for all
transactions to be signed by any TWO persons: Cubmaster, Asst. Cubmaster,
Committee Chairman, Treasurer, and Awards Chairman. A deposit can be
made to the account with a single signature.
Approve all budget expenditures. Check all disbursements against budget
allowances, and pay bills by check. The pack committee chairman should
approve bills before payment.
Collect dues from Cub Scout and Webelos den leaders at the pack leaders'
meeting, preferably in sealed den dues envelopes. Give receipts for these
funds and deposit money in the bank account.
Keep up-to-date financial records.
Encourage each den leader to explain the pack financial plan to each boy and
his family, so that boys will accept responsibility for paying dues and parents
will be alert for opportunities for boys to earn dues money and develop habits
of thrift.
On request of den leaders, sympathetically counsel with a boy who does not
pay dues, determine the reason, and encourage regular payment. If the boy is
unable to pay, work out a plan with the pack committee so the boy can earn
dues.
Periodically report on the pack's financial condition at the monthly pack
meeting. Make regular monthly reports to the pack committee at pack leaders'

meeting, and report to chartered organization as often as desirable on the
financial condition of the pack.
Provide petty cash needed by leaders. Keep a record of expenditures.
Guide the pack in conducting council-approved, pack money-earning projects.
Length of Term and Term Limits:
The Treasurer may hold one (1) other Part time position within the
Pack Committee OR two (2) Short Term positions during this term. This position
is limited to a one year term, and though it is not recommended, may serve
successive terms if the holder of the position and the Pack Committee approves
this by nomination, accepting of the nomination and majority vote of the
Committee.
Awards Chairman: (Full Time Position)
The Awards Chairman's job is to:
Possess a current Youth Protection Training certificate.
Attend Monthly Committee Meetings.
Have a working knowledge of the Cub Scout and Webelos Scout advancement
plans.
Help plan and conduct induction and advancement recognition ceremonies.
Arrange for Tiger Cub graduation ceremonies with the Cubmaster and Tiger
Cub coach.
Promote the use of Cub Scout and Webelos Scout Den Advancement Charts to
record advancement in the den and as an incentive for advancement.
Promote the use of den doodles as a stimulus for advancement.
Collect Den Advancement Reports at pack leaders' meetings for use when
ordering badges and insignia from the local council service center.
Promote Boy's Life magazine as an aid to advancement.
Help build or obtain advancement equipment for use in making advancement
ceremonies more effective.
Promote wearing and proper use of uniform and insignia.
Arrange for and procure trophies / patches / awards for special events such as
the Pinewood Derby and Raingutter Regatta.
Length of Term and Term Limits:
The Awards Chairman may NOT hold ANY other Full Time or Part Time position
within the Pack Committee. The Awards Chairman may hold a one (1) Short
Term position during this term. This position is limited to a one year term, and
though it is not recommended, may serve successive terms if the holder of the
position and the Pack Committee approves this by nomination, accepting of the
nomination and majority vote of the Committee.

Pack Trainer: (Part time position)
The Pack Trainer‟s job is to:
Conduct orientation of new families and pack leaders.
Train each new leader and pack committee member for his specific position,
using materials provided by BSA.
Help with unit Leadership Enhancements during pack leader‟s meeting.
Conduct other training as designated by the district and/or council.
Encourage pack leaders to attend on-going training, such as Roundtable,
Pow-Wow, University of Scouting, outdoor training, Youth Protection
Training, and Wood Badge.
Remain current with training material and programs.
Keep track of pack training records.
Length of term and term limits:
The Pack Trainer may hold one (1) other Part Time position within the Pack
Committee or two (2) Short Term positions during the term. However, if that
person is also a Full Time Den Leader, then no other positions may be held. This
position is limited to a one year term, and though it is not recommended, may
serve successive terms if the holder of the position and the Pack Committee
approves this by nomination, accepting of the nomination and majority vote of
the Committee.
Tiger Cub Coach: (Part Time Position)
The Tiger Cub Coach's job is to:
Possess a current Youth Protection Training certificate.
Attend Monthly Committee Meetings.
Help ensure stable, active, enthusiastic Tiger Den Leaders for all Tiger dens.
Help Tiger Cub Den Leaders understand the purposes, policies, and
procedures of the chartered organization and the Boy Scouts of America.
Give immediate help and Fast Start training to new Tiger Den Leaders. Help
them plan and conduct their first several meetings.
Encourage Tiger Den Leaders to attend basic training and to qualify for Cub
Scout leader recognition awards. See that leaders are appropriately
recognized.
Be thoroughly informed and up-to-date on the latest program literature and
materials.
Give continuing support and help to Tiger Dens. Offer help, encouragement,
direction, training, and new ideas, without taking over the den.
Be available to attend den meetings as needed.
See that dens are never without a leader and assistant. Be ready to fill in for a
den leader in case of emergency.
Help the Committee in recruiting new Tiger Den Leaders.
Be sure Tiger Den Leaders understand the pack budget plan.

Be sure Tiger Den Leaders understand the importance of maintaining den
records.
Serve as the communications link between the Committee and Tiger Den
Leaders. Keep the Committee informed on the successes and needs of Tiger
dens.
Participate in the annual pack program planning conference and pack leaders'
meetings. Participate in pack meetings.
Support the policies of the Boy Scouts of America.
Length of Term and Term Limits:
The Tiger Cub Coach may hold one (1) other Part time position within the

local council service center.
Keep minutes on pack leaders and committee' meetings. Record only key
items such as things needing follow-up or items for the history of the pack.
Notify leaders of pack leaders' meetings and other activities.
Provide den leaders with records and forms for meetings.

Membership Chairman: (Part Time Position)
The Membership Chairman's job is to:
Possess a current Youth Protection Training certificate.
Attend Monthly Committee Meetings.
Prepare re-registration papers and an annual report to the chartered
organization. Secure signatures and registration fees for the coming year.
Ask the chartered organization representative to submit a charter application
and annual report to the chartered organization for approval.
Arrange with the unit commissioner for periodic uniform inspections. At least
a month before charter expiration, also arrange for the annual membership
inventory, a uniform inspection, and the annual charter review meeting.
Conduct an annual census of boys in the chartered organization for systematic
recruitment. Work with pack committee members to promote recruitment
plans.
Work with the pack committee to develop and carry out a plan for year-round
membership growth.
Work with the pack committee to see that eligible boys and parents are moved
into a Webelos den at the appropriate time.
Work with the Webelos den leader to see that Webelos Scouts and parents
have a smooth transition into a Boy Scout troop.
Follow up on Cub Scout dropouts to return them to full, active membership.
Length of Term and Term Limits:

Lead a den in it‟s participation at pack meetings.
Serve as den host or hostess for family members at the pack meetings.
Work in harmony with other den and pack leaders.
Help the Cubmaster and pack Committee recruit new boys.
Coordinate shared leadership among the Tiger Cub adult partners.

Ensure that each Tiger Cub and his adult partner have the opportunity to be
the host team; planning and executing the den activities, rotating
responsibilities monthly.
Make pack and den resources available to the host team, ensuring the
completion of the den component of the Tiger Cub advancement
requirements.
Use Boy‟s Life and scouting magazines, Cub Scout Program Helps, the Tiger
Cub handbook and other Cub Scout literature as sources for program ideas.
Keep accurate records of den dies and attendance. Collect weekly/monthly
den dues (optional) and turn them into the pack treasurer at the monthly pack
leader‟s meeting.
Maintain a friendly relationship with the Tiger Cubs and their adult partners.
Encourage Tiger Cubs to earn advancement awards. Keep accurate
advancement records and see that the boys receive recognition for their
achievements.
Stimulate the Tiger Cubs‟ imaginations on the program theme of the month,
and work with the adult partners to prepare the boys for participation in pack
meetings.
Promote the religious emblems program, as available to Tiger Cubs.
Help the den and pack earn the National Summertime Pack Award.
Take part in the annual pack program planning conference and pack leaders‟
meetings.
Help set a good example for the boys through behavior, attitude, and proper
uniforming.
Help the Cubmaster or asst. Cubmaster provide a meaningful recognition
experience for the transition of Tiger Cub dens as they enter Wolf dens at the
end of the Tiger Cub year.
Throughout the year, keep in mind the transition goal of moving the boys to
the next level in Cub Scouting.
Support the policies of the BSA.
The main responsibilities of the Tiger Cub Den Leader can be summarized as
follows:
1. Work directly with other den and pack leaders to ensure that their den is an
active and successful part of the pack.
2. Coordinate shared leadership among the Tiger Cub adult partners, ensuring
that all adult partners help plan, conduct, and prepare for den meeting and
“Go See It!” on a rotating basis and that the den activities provide
advancement.
3. Attend the pack leaders‟ meeting.
4. Lead the den at the monthly pack activity.
5. Ensure the transition of Tiger Cubs into a Wolf den at the end of the year.

Provide worthwhile tasks for the Webelos denner so he can assume some
responsibility and gain satisfaction from his efforts.
Use Boy's Life and Scouting magazines and Webelos Scout Program Helps as
resources for ideas and information.
Instill Scouting spirit and moral values by personal example, ceremonies, and
meaningful activities such as service projects.
Collect den dues as needed to cover costs of materials for Den Activities
Encourage Webelos Scouts to advance. Maintain high advancement
standards. Keep accurate advancement records and see that the boys are
promptly recognized for their achievements.
With the help of the pack committee, and unit commissioner, determine one
or more neighborhood Boy Scout troops into which Webelos Scouts will be
graduated and establish a good working relationship with those troops. Try to
graduate every Webelos Scout into a troop.
Work with the Scoutmaster and assistant Scoutmaster to plan and conduct
meaningful joint activities.
Work with the Cubmaster to see that impressive graduation ceremonies are
conducted in the pack. Invite the Scoutmaster and troop leaders to take part.
Ask qualified persons, including adult family members, to serve as activity
badge counselors.
Encourage parents of Webelos Scouts to help plan and carry out overnight
campouts and other outdoor activities. Work with the troop assistant
Scoutmaster or Scoutmaster to arrange for loan of troop equipment and on
joint Webelos den-troop activities.
Help the den and the pack earn the National Summertime Pack Award.

Summer Day Camp Coordinator: (Short Term position)
The Summer Day Camp Coordinator‟s responsibilities are to:
Work with their counterpart from the Great Plains District to ensure that the
Scouts and their parents have ample opportunity to sign-up and attend
summer day camp.
Recruit adults from the Pack to provide leadership for the day camp.

The Summer Day Camp Coordinator may hold one (1) other Part Time position
within the Pack Committee or two (2) Short Term positions during the year. The
term for this position is a 4-5 month commitment and, though, it is not
recommended, may serve successive terms if the holder of the position and the

Summer Activity Chairman: (Short Term Position)
The Summer Activity Chairman's responsibilities are to:
Plan and Coordinate all aspects of the Pack's Monthly Summer Activities for
June, July, and August.
Coordinate Facilities for the events.
Coordinate communications for the events.

The Summer Activity Chairman may hold one (1) other Part time position within
