2009 Miss National Cornbread Festival
Beauty Pageant – April 18th
“There’s nothing prettier than a southern cornbread -fed girl!” says
National Cornbread Festival Beauty Pageant Chairperson Jane Dawkins
as the festival committee announces the first event of the week-long
celebration in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.
The annual pageant, which will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009,
at 6:00 p.m. CDT/7:00 p.m. EDT at South Pittsburg High School, will
include age groups (for girls only) from 2 years old to 18 years of age.
The winner of the 16-18 year old category will be crowned Miss
National Cornbread Festival Queen and will participate in activities
throughout the year. She will be crowned by Emily Brazelton, queen of
the 2008 Miss National Cornbread Festival.
“Given our current economy, we are lowering the pageant entry fee
this year from $40 in the past to $25. We think this will give more girls
the opportunity to participate,” states Ms. Dawkins. The admission to
the pageant will be $3.00/adults and $2.00 for students K-12th grades.
Every contestant will receive a memento for their participation and
each age category will have a winner and 1st and 2nd runners-up.
Interested contestants or their parents may contact the pageant
committee at 423-837-9077 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to
request applications and additional information. Applications and rules
may be picked up or dropped off at Dawkins Southern Insurance, 219 S.
