Calendar Mind
yet another meeting we did attend
the same discussions with no end
addressing the issues like before
it was nothing more than a revolving door
the staff sat there upon their chairs
making it seem like they really did care
many things we talked about
in thinking back was this all
to addressing the issues
or was it simply confusion
to step foot in this door
with no resolutions on this floor
they’d told us three months before
what they’d do to restore
the issues we’d discuss before
their panel agreed to do more
those concerns at hand
were the same issues in the previous plan
frustrated she watches the same old dance
around the solution with a changing staff
they said that resolve is what we’d get
and when this was not clearly met
we’d sit before you asking the same
questions that had been asked in vain
months after months have passed us by
turning the years of the calendar mind
flipping pages with identical glow
no solution was found though
through the glare of egos
run repetitive resonating copies
of their forged promises
among new faces which arose
over this battle which has been posed
among those that look on with ease
time constraints that put a squeeze
on the patience that comes bouncing across
ripples of thoughts from these talks

the continuum continues to divide
taking her through this continuous ride
dancing on the same pages passed
the memories reverberate back
they sit there with an act of ease
talking as they prettily please
knowing not mother’s history
as they sat in their authoritative seat
then back to the original issue to meet
addressing what was put on drafts
before them and with differing staff
memories ring like softened chimes
catapulting her into past times
memories of all those talks
makes her think of all that’s lost
promises made upon bouncing rays
months to years have conceded this space
as I look back to trace
how three months adds to time
and exhaustion extinguishes the calendar mind

The facility has a Care Plan Meeting for mother every three months. During these meetings the facility and family discuss concerns
that need to be addressed. The issues that we have discussed in these meetings have become repetitive with no resolve. In our
meetings we talked with those in charge of the nursing plan. The actual work is done on the courts by the aides. Their staff may or
may not get the information as to the changes that may have occurred on mother’s Care Plan. Their staff may not care whether there
have been any changes made to the Care Plan. One of the main issues that has been a consistent problem is getting their staff to feed
mother.
