You, and the more than 60,000 volunteers like you who have stepped forward to help carry out our mission of caring for our congregations and communities, are a vital part of our ability to make a positive difference with Lutherans and for Lutherans and their communities. We hope this calendar of key dates will be useful to you throughout the year as you work with us to multiply the good our members do in congregations and communities. Chapter Leader Date Jan. 8 Jan. 8 Early January Description Initial 2007 chapter Care program funding available. First day to request a chapter Care program activity for 2007. First of two installments of 2007 chapter operating funds deposited into the checking accounts of chapters that have the five required elected leadership positions on record. 2006 Chapter Summary Report year-end statement available. Postmark date to return authorization page from the year-end Chapter Summary Report. $1,000 of JOIN HANDS DAY seed money deposited into each chapter's checking account. Thrivent chapter service teams may conduct JOIN HANDS DAY activities during this time. Please strive to conduct activities on the actual JOIN HANDS DAY—May 5. National Volunteer Week (www.pointsoflight.org/programs/seasons/nvw/). JOIN HANDS DAY (www.joinhandsday.org). Second of two installments of 2007 chapter operating funds deposited into chapter checking accounts. (To receive the operating funds, the chapter must have its five required elected leaders entered on the system, and its completed and signed Chapter Summary Report from 2006 must be on file with Thrivent Financial.) Due date for chapters to report online all 2007 JOIN HANDS DAY activities conducted by chapter service teams. Any remaining JOIN HANDS DAY seed money will be removed from chapter checking accounts. Chapter Leader Date Dec. 20 Description Congregational Coordinator CC CL
The last day (no exceptions can be made) that: • New 2007 activity/funding requests can be made for the Care Abounds in Communities® and Care in Congregations® programs. • Previously approved funding amounts can be changed. • Additional funding can be added to an existing activity. The functionality to enter activity/funding requests online will be shut down until Jan. 8, 2008—at which time, 2008 activity/funding requests can be entered. The desired last day to report all 2007 chapter activities online. This is the desired deadline because 2007 activities reported after Dec. 31 will not be counted for 2007 totals. • Last day for recording 2007 chapter election results. • Last day 2007 chapter leaders can access the online reporting system. • Due date for chapters to submit a new Chapter Depository Authorization (bank signature card) and Security Request Questions document if there are changes in whom should have access to the chapter checking account in 2008. • Initial 2008 chapter Care program funding available. • First day to request a chapter Care program activity for 2008.
