Residential Recycle Collection The City of Mount Vernon contracts

# # Residential Recycle Collection: The City of Mount Vernon contracts with Waste Management for every other week residential recycling services. Blue recycle carts are provided by Waste Management and are available in 35-gallon, 64-gallon, and 96gallon sizes. Recycle costs are included in your monthly City Sewer/Garbage bill at $2.25 per household regardless of cart size. For more residential recycle information call Waste Management at (360) 757-8245. Curbside Yard Waste Collection: Waste Management provides curbside yard waste collection service to Mount Vernon residents who subscribe to this service. The green yard waste carts are 96-gallon wheeled carts. Waste Management will bill residents separately at $7.97 per month. Extra yard waste, placed in a kraft paper waste bag or 32-gallon can will be charged at $3.22 per unit. Put extra yard waste in your own containers with handles (32-gal., 65-lb. limit), kraft paper waste bags, or bundles tied with sisal twine (3’ x 2’ limit). Label them “yard waste” and put them next to the yard waste cart at least three feet from the garbage. No plastic bags, please. There is an additional charge for each extra yard waste unit. To sign up for curbside yard waste collection, or for more information call (360) 757-8245. PLEASE HELP CONTROL COMMUNITY LITTER Please secure any loose garbage, especially plastic grocery bags, styrofoam packing peanuts, tissue paper, and similar waste products. These items, when placed in bags that are tied off, cannot blow around. We highly recommend using standard garbage or waste can liners, and tying them off when full. Plastic or paper grocery bags also work well to secure your garbage. This should help keep community litter to a minimum.
