Dear Ms. Onley,

Thank you for visiting with our delegation from Martin County, Florida, on a very wet
November 16. We appreciate your understanding of the importance of the Indian River
Lagoon project to Martin County.

We have been working on the project for years, beginning in its early planning stages.
The people of Martin County have provided $50 million so far for land in anticipation of
the authorization of the Indian River Lagoon project. Recently, the citizens of our county
voted to assess themselves another $30 million for the project.

Indeed, the Martin County Board of County Commissioners would be grateful for
anything the Task Force on the Restoration of the South Florida Ecosystem, under your
leadership, might be able to do to encourage the authorization and funding of this critical
project.

Again, thank you for your time and interest, and we look forward to working with you in
the future.

Sincerely,

Michael DiTerlizzi, Chairman
Martin County Board of County Commissioners
