The Competition Program of the National Sports Center for The Disabled!
Last year was a remarkable season for NSCD Alpine Ski Team, with six athletes being named to the 2008/2009 US Disabled Ski Team! The 2008/2009 season will mark our 25th year of offering the highest quality alpine race training available to athletes with physical disabilities. Weather you are a beginner, or expert to the racing circuit, anyone can take part in the competitive events. All we ask is that you strive to seek your “personal best”. The vision for the NSCD Competition Program is to provide racers of all levels the opportunity to achieve their dreams and goals through competition. With over 80 years of coaching experience from our staff, we work to provide athletes with the opportunities to excel to their highest potential. Our Development Coaches work closely with upcoming athletes to prepare them to become successful competitors at local, regional and national races by giving those rich experiences that will guide them in their adult lives. The following pages in this brochure describe the 2008/2009 training programs that are available. Not matter what level racer you are or what camp you decide to attend we promise the highest quality race training available. All full-season program fees must be paid in full before your season pass will be issued. Participants unable to meet this requirement will be issued a 30-day pass at Director’s approval.

If you have sponsors interested in supporting the Competition Program, checks must be made payable to the NSCD to be properly receipted. Current IRS laws dictate that funds used to benefit specific individuals are not tax-exempt. If you have sponsors who wish to contribute to your training fund, please contact Erik Petersen.

LOCKERS
Due to our limited space lockers will be assigned to all full-time athletes. Lockers may be available to other athletes, depending on the frequency of their training schedule.
SKI STORAGE
Locking ski storage and use of the wax room facilities are included in the program fees, as applicable. Storage room space is available on a first come/first serve basis, and only participants who have paid a deposit will receive space. Latecomers will be issued space only if available. The NSCD assumes no responsibility for articles lost or stolen within storage or wax room facilities.

NSCD RACE CAMPS/RACES
FEES
For camps and races that are organized by the NSCD the cost will include lift tickets, lodging, coaching and transportation for designated races.
NSCD RACE CAMPS
HOLIDAY CAMP
This camp offers an upper level progression for experienced athletes to be prepared for the Huntsman Cup race. Camp participants have the opportunity to travel with NSCD to attend the race in Park City, UT> This is a DS/USA Level II Race and will be scored for points. Arrival: December 28, 2008 in Denver Depart: January 5, 2009 from Denver Lodging: Beaver Village Hotel Camp Fee: $300.00
ARRIVAL
Arrival for all camps is the day before camp begins. If arriving by plane please schedule your flight for to arrive in Denver no later than 3:00 pm.
DEPARTURE
Departure for all camps is the day after camp ends. If departing by plane, please schedule your flight for departure from Denver after 12:00
WINTER PARK OPEN CAMP
This is a great training camp for those who want to participate in speed events. Super G and Giant Slalom training on the courses used during the Winter Park Open. Arrive: December 13, 2008 Depart:: December 19, 2008 Lodging: Beaver Village Lodge Camp Fee: $270. Lodging Fee $360.
TRANSPORTATION

LODGING
Beaver Village Lodge again this year is being very generous in providing reasonably priced lodging. A $100 lodging deposit must be received at least thirty days prior to arrival, and the balance is due upon arrival. The deposit will be 50% refundable up to seven days prior to the start of the camp.
WELLS FARGO CUP CAMP
This camp will provide the opportunity to train on PRO-AM style race course for the World Disabled Invitational, the highest payout race in disabled skiing within the US. Wells Fargo Cup is a fundraising event for NSCD. Arrive: February 22, 2009 Depart: March 2, 2009 Lodging: Beaver Village Lodge Camp Fee: TBD
DEPOSITS
Make all camp and lodging deposit checks payable to the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). Camp deposits are $100/camp.

LEARN TO RACE DEVELOPMENT
Development Program for New Athletes
The Learn to Race Development Program is designed for skiers with physical disabilities who have skied before and would like to experience the competitive side of disabled skiing. Whether or not you pursue a career in ski-racing or just come for the fun, the Learn to Race Program will definitely give your skiing skills a boost.

LEARN TO RACE CAMP & RACE
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to participate in a winter sport where you could actually race on the same race courses with US Paralympics Team members? NSCD coaches will instruct new racers to the fundamentals of ski racing, coaches will assess individuals and lead them through gate training. The weekend will end with a Level 1 race and banquet.
