The most important wealth for any nation today is its human assets which can be
made more competitive by providing demand driven quality education coupled
with practical learning. This is the theme we believe in at G.B. Pant University of
Agriculture and Technology, which was established in 1960 and is known as the
harbinger of green revolution, the place where we nurture the future assets of our
country. It is recognized world wide for its quality education, world class research,
high quality seeds and community building programmes. We feel proud of our
heritage spread through our alumni at top notch positions in the industry all over
India and abroad. CABM, the first Agribusiness College of the country has further
added laurels to its unique and glorious history. The University has been conferred
the ICAR Best Institution Award twice in 1997 and 2005. Our international linkage
programmes with foreign universities in teaching and research have also given
our students a global platform to learn and express themselves.

It gives me immense pleasure to introduce the management graduates of
prestigious College of Agribusiness Management, G.B. Pant University of
Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. CABM stands out as a premier sectoral
management institute in the country with a continuous pursuit of excellence and
innovations in learning. CABM hones managers in four areas – Agribusiness,
Engineers, Food Retail & Supply Chain. The College also offers Ph.D. programme in
management. The overwhelming interest shown by recruiters in the past years is
the testimony to the proficiency of our students. When it comes to attaining the
organizational goals, we don't have a speck of doubt in our minds that our
          students will surpass all expectations.

                                                                                    Best wishes

An MBA institute can be perfect only when it is able to provide the life time examples,
case studies in addition to the regular text books and basic infrastructure.
As we were from the first batch of CABM we definitely have the experience of
challenges faced in a start up and hard selling of the Agribusiness concept. All this
actually helped us in evolving as creative thinking individuals.
Overall, it is the patience and lots of hard work that is required to become successful in
                     the longer run.
I would credit all this to CABM and its faculty.

Recruiters
         Process and Guidelines

Year after year, companies from diverse industries visit the campus to select future managers, whom the
institute has nurtured to excel in every aspect of their professional lives. With the kind of grooming provided to
the students, and its stringent admission procedure, the institute has been successful in attracting a large
number of recruiters to the campus. The batch of 2007-09, with strength of 68 students, is gearing up to face the
challenge and demands of the recruitment process.

     THE PROCESS
Campus Recruitment commences from December 2008. Interested companies are requested to inform, in
advance, the date on which they intend to visit the campus for recruitment. They are also requested to
communicate the facilities, required by them, for the selection procedure, viz. accommodation / transport
facilities and booking requirements. On receiving communication from interested companies for the résumé of
students, the Placement Committee shall forward the same to them. Group Discussions, Interviews and other
methods of selection adopted by the organization are conducted on- campus.
Organizations have the flexibility to send their own formats for CVs and design their own methods of
recruitment, within their allotted slots, to facilitate the fit between students and the organization. On final
selection, the appointment letter issued by the organization is sent to the candidate through the Placement Cell.
     PRE - PLACEMENT TALK (PPT)
Pre-placement talks offer an open forum for student-company interaction. These talks provide the company an
opportunity to highlight their offerings, their expectations and requirements. Students on the other hand, are
able to get first hand information about the organizations in which they endeavor to build their careers. In order
to facilitate the process of making Power Point presentations, the institute will provide audio-visual projection
facilities. It is thus advantageous for recruiters to provide a detailed job profile.
If such a presentation is not possible on the part of any company, then the company is requested to send all
details, making use of the Permanent Placement Reply Format in advance to the Placement Coordinator.
In the past some organizations have not been able to come down to the campus due to certain unavoidable
reasons. With a view to accommodate the requests of such organizations, the college has introduced
the video conferencing facility, which will act as an alternative, whenever direct or in-person interaction /
interviewing is not possible. The above facility, if required, should be conveyed back to the college along with
the completed response form. They are also requested to send relevant information about the job along with
     the form.
Students can also be called for final interviews at the company's expense to the company headquarters.
     GUIDELINES / RULES FOR ORGANISATIONS
The following guidelines help in the final placement process:
         · A mutually convenient time and date shall be allotted to the organization.
         · Declaration of the final results immediately after the interview would be expected. This would help in
simplifying the process and making it more effective.
         · All communication regarding the placement is to be made to the placement office.
Organizations are requested to forward their recruitment needs to the placement office using the response form
provided at the end of the Placement Brochure. Kindly ensure that the form reaches the Placement Office before
     30th November, 2008.

When the agricultural sector realized the need for revitalizing itself as a business, there was a sudden
need for Agribusiness managers. Once this need was addressed and the industry realized the benefits
of this approach, the need grew. As is true of any business, it needs specialists and generalists. Our
students have studied and specialized in various subjects prior to enrolling for our program.
Consequently, they are specialists in their fields after learning how to apply their knowledge in a
business context, and are generalists as far as the field of Agribusiness management is concerned.
Here's an insight into the diversity of our talented lot:

MBA (FOOD RETAIL & SUPPLY CHAIN)
With the impending food crisis, there is an urgent need to manage our food reserves and make supply
chains efficient. To feed a billion plus population, we need to reduce our losses arising from wastage and
deterioration. The private sector has taken initiatives to reform and revitalize the food retail sector.
There has been a paradigm shift in consumer behavior, as consumers have more options and freedom
than ever before. The retail sector is continuously innovating to woo the consumer. The MBA (Food
Retail and Supply Chain) program prepares its students to deal with these challenges, and will be
                                   indispensable for its growth.
General management has no longer been the monarch of the present game; its an era of specialization.
This led to the genesis of Food Retail and Supply Chain Management in CABM, Pantnagar in 2007 with
an ardent batch graduating in 2009. The batch is proficient in subjects like Food Retail, Supply Chain
Management, IT enabled Retail Operation and Sales & Distribution Management.

The Team On Bench
PROGRAM
The Summer Recruitment Program, referred to as SRP, is an integral part of the curriculum. It provides
an opportunity to first year MBA students to get hands-on business experience. An internship in the
summer is an ideal way to explore an industry, build a relationship with a prospective employer, and
              hone an intern's skills.
Students spend a minimum of 6 weeks with the organization, during which they undertake a project in
which they learn and experience management practices under the guidance of experienced
professionals from the corporate sector. The Summer Projects will be undertaken between 20th May
2009 and 30th July 2009. The objective of SRP is to give students an opportunity to apply management
techniques, develop sound decision making abilities and learn about organizational structures and
culture. Students are required to submit a report of the project undertaken to the college and the
organization for assessment. The college ensures the confidentiality of the report if so desired by the
              organization.
RECRUITMENT

              PRE-PLACEMENT OFFER (PPO)
Pre-Placement Offer is recognition of student's ability, efforts and good relation they cultivate in the
organization during their summer internship. Organizations are encouraged to make PPO to the
summer trainees based on their performance in the summer project. A PPO given to the student is
counted as a valid offer and its acceptance would be communicated to the organization.
