HCI STEEL BUILDING SYSTEMS, INC. ENGINEERED FOR VALUE ENGINEERED FOR VALUE It begins with your design requirements. As the project starts to take shape, certain demands for engineering begin to emerge. Where do you go for help? You need a company that takes the time to understand your exact needs, possesses the ability and strong technical resources to meet them, and has the production capabilities to deliver them. You need HCI Steel Building Systems HCI Steel Building Systems manufactures pre-engineered steel building systems in the most technically advanced facility of its kind in North America. HCI understands that a building’s design can have a profound impact on a customer’s operations. That is why HCI and its Authorized Builders work hand in hand with prospective customers to meet their specific objectives. Typical projects range from manufacturing facilities, multi-story buildings, warehouses, self-storage mini-warehouses and hangars, as well as schools, churches, agricultural and commercial buildings. Long spans, high eaves, heavy loading, crane systems and mezzanines are routine at HCI. HCI Steel Building Systems offers complete design flexibility and buildings that are ENGINEERED FOR VALUE ENGINEERED FOR VALUE means every detail has been carefully evaluated and designed to enhance the activities it supports. With HCI you can explore all your options. Clear spans in excess of 500 feet coupled with unlimited dimensional and geometric flexibility eliminate restrictions. 2 ENGINEERED FOR VALUE begins at square one. HCI’s own manufacturing facility was designed to incorporate an extensive material handling system which was laid out for ease of material flow. Planning and technology allows HCI to produce a wide variety of structures with better delivery times at very cost-effective pricing. Joe Holden, Founder and President “Our equipment allows for more aggressive lead times. We can design and fabricate a much larger range of buildings efficiently, particularly the large wide span buildings in excess of 500’. Our new purlin mill gives us the ability to produce longer bays and significantly broadens the secondary framing products available to our engineers and component customers.” HCI was founded in Alaska in 1981,to service the needs of such companies as ARCO, British Petroleum, Sohio, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Navy. In addressing the needs of customers today, HCI cites those initial clients. Lee McDaniel, Vice President/ General Manager “Those early customers demanded a high level of quality and conformance to their specifications. Most metal building manufacturers have their origins in the agricultural markets, which are very simple when compared to the institutional and industrial construction markets. Those clients are highly technical and very demanding of quality and adherance to strict specifications. This initial demand worked to the long-term advantage of our company, by keeping it on the leading edge of technology.” 3 TRANSFORMING YOUR IDEAS INTO HIGH PERFORMANCE BUILDINGS Each project is individually designed to meet a specific set of customer design requirements. HCI will develop a cost effective solution that is perfect for your needs. 4 It starts with your design requirements. It begins with automated raw material sorting and handling to subcomponent processing of the parts, then conveying the parts to the beam welding line. There are 856’ of powered roller conveyors, two gantry material handlers, two cross conveyors, four seam weld stations and a fit-up station. Our welder is a pull-through type with submerged arc-welding machines. The maximum web size is 84” and the maximum flange size is 1½” x 16”. Web processing is done in a continuous strip of 8’ wide plate on a 63’ long slat conveyor. The cutting is done with a computer controlled plasma torch. Flanges are processed in a continuous strip technique. Punching and shearing of the flanges is performed with a computer controlled triple gag shuttle punch and a 425 ton shear. Flanges are then conveyed directly to the beam welder or cross-conveyed for secondary welding at the step flange assembly station. HCI’s new purlin mill processes ‘C’, ‘Z’, and ‘G’ (eave strut) shapes. Sizes range from 3½” to 14” webs, and 2” through 4” flanges with virtually limitless hole sizes and locations. Piece marks are automatically stenciled on all parts for ease of field identification. Set-up time is now done in a matter of minutes allowing HCI to respond faster to our customers needs. 17 POPULAR FRAMING SYSTEMS RIGID FRAMES CLEAR SPAN MODULAR CLEAR SPAN HIGH PROFILE CONVENTIONAL MULTI-STORY WIDE SPANS TO 500 FT. + SINGLE SLOPES CLEAR SPAN OR MODULAR T CRANE SYSTEMS T MEZZANINES MODULARSPAN SYSTEMS Modularspan Frames have all the features of Clearspan Frames. By adding interior columns the frame will span greater widths when one, two or three rows of interior columns are not a hindrance. The economical design is particularly practical for office/warehouse, industrial, and commercial uses. Optional parallel columns are well suited for palletized storage and display racks. CLEARSPAN SYSTEMS Clearspan Frames with tapered columns and rafters give optimum clearspan capabilities. The column-free interior space is ideal for buildings such as auditoriums, gymnasiums and aircraft hangars. MULTI-STORY HCI is a single source company that can provide engineering, detailing and fabrication for conventional structural buildings. WIDE SPANS Open Web Truss Systems offer exceptional design flexibility particularly where wider spans are required up to 500’. These incredibly strong framing systems are ideally suited for situations requiring clear unobstructed floor space such as aircraft hangars and indoor stadiums. With large clear spans, HCI’s Open Web Truss Systems offer design versalility that is rare in the industry. MEZZANINES Mezzanines can be designed for offices, shop space, basketball courts, or retail merchandising including uniform live loads for heavy storage. 18 HCI’S WIDE RANGE OF ATTRACTIVE & VERSATILE ROOFING & SIDING SYSTEMS Tahoe Blue Husky Hi-Rib Roof & Wall Panel Husky Hi-Rib provides a tough durable wall or roof system and covers 36”.
