NV Blanc de Noirs, Brut. Cepage: 100% Pinot Noir (in this southern Aube part of Champagne Pinot Noir is by far the most widely grown grape, I have been told by one grower that the reason is they are susceptible to late frosts down here and Pinot Noir copes better than Chardonnay) tasting: delicious all Pinot Noir Champagne. Abundant mousse and golden colour. With plenty of weight and round strawberry fruit but balanced by a crisp freshness. Herard have around 10 hectares of their own vineyards which caters for most of their needs, they then buy in fruit from other quality growers in the same area they have long established relationships with. something that was up on our site: Paul Herard are individual growers whose principal production is a Blanc de Noirs Champagne made entirely from pinot noir in the Aube region south of Troyes. The wine is round and full without being heavy and has remained wonderfully consistent over throughout our association with them which began in 1986. Tom Stevenson - Christies 'World Encyclopedia of Champagne and Sparkling Wine': grading: 84/100 "The Herard family have been vignerons in the Aube district for generations and created this house in 1925. Since then, it has established a well-deserved reputation as a reliable producer of good-value Champagne. House style and range: Best-known for its bright and breezy blanc de noirs, ultra-fruity and strawberryish, but also capable of a very good demi-sec."
