About Northlight Theatre
Northlight eatre is dedicated to enhancing the cultural life of Chicago and Chicago’s North Shore, presenting life-a rming theatrical works which re ect and challenge the values and beliefs of the community it serves and involving community members, young and old, in the theatrical experience. With nearly 9000 subscribers, Northlight is the fourth-largest theatre in the Chicago area. e organization produces ve shows per season on a LORT C contract in a 342-seat theatre with an operating budget of over $3 million. Programming includes world premieres, musicals, plays with music, and fresh takes on classical work. Northlight was founded by Mike Nussbaum, Frank Galati and Greg Kandel in 1974; it has been under the leadership of Artistic Director BJ Jones for the last ten years.

Northlight Theatre: Nurturing New Work
Interplay – Northlight eatre’s subscribed reading series – was born from an imperative: to empower playwrights by providing a safe and nurturing incubator for their nascent work while building lasting artistic relationships. New work is integral to Northlight’s programming vision, and Interplay’s mission mandates the inclusion of our audience in the theatrical process as well as contributing to the American theatrical canon. Northlight’s commissioning program is steadily growing as we continue to look for new ways to support established and emerging voices in American eatre. Post-Interplay Productions
Melanie Marnich’s ese Shining Lives received its world premiere in May 2008 at Centerstage (Baltimore, MD) and its second production at History eatre (St. Paul, MN). Craig Wright’s Lady received its world premiere at Northlight eatre in February 2007 and received subsequent productions at Asolo Repertory eatre (Sarasota, FL), e Road eatre Company (Los Angeles, CA), ird Rail Repertory Company (Portland, OR) and Stages Repertory eatre (Houston, TX). Bre Neveu’s Gas for Less received its world premiere at the Goodman eatre in May 2008. Larry Gelbart and Craig Wright’s Be er Late received its world premiere at Northlight in March 2008 and will be featured in the Galway Arts Festival in July 2008. Kenneth Lin’s Po Boy Tango will receive its world premiere production at Northlight in January 2009.
