In an interview, Carol Christen, author of What Color is Your Parachute? for Teens, talked about Millenial workforce. She said that a lot of basic behavior, attitudes and even common sense taken for granted by older generations have not been uniformly passed along to Millenials. This lack of acculturation negatively affects the employability of these young workers. Work readiness demands the ability to communicate with people of all ages. Millennial teens show an alarming lack of social and communication skills. She has taught techniques based on What Color Is Your Parachute? to teens, young adults and mature adults for years. The book for teens has chapters on getting the most from high school and college, goal setting, effective job search strategies and tips for behavior after getting hired. There is still much to be done in order to teach young workers how to grow their own careers in ways that will help them achieve the lives they want.
