Through mandates from the legislature and the governor, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) could soon be putting sweeping companies out of business as it wages war on diesel particulates and greenhouse gases. The latest salvo is the "On Road Bus and Truck Rule," scheduled to take effect Jan. 1, 2010. This regulation will force all pre-2007 diesel vehicles (over 14,000 lbs. gvw) to be either retired or retrofitted with a $10,000 - $20,000 particulate trap.
