FORSCOM: Anticipating Continued Worldwide Presence by ProQuest


Following the terrible events of September 11, 2001, U.S. Forces Command (FORSCOM) contributions to national defense escalated and have grown to an annual rotational requirement of approximately 23 brigade combat team (BCT) equivalents to meet combatant commanders' demands. In 2008, FORSCOM coordinated with the Army National Guard (ARNG) and the Office, Chief of the Army Reserve to explore ways the Army can change the RC from a Cold War strategic reserve to an operational force in a manner that preserves the citizen-soldier ethos.
