The ZF-PowerLine 6-speed automatic transmission designed specifically for the North American market will debut in 2010 in a new model from Nissan Motor Co Ltd. The transmissions will be produced by ZF in Gainesville, GA and supplied to Nissan in Canton, MS. Designed for use in light-duty commercial vehicles as well as school buses and pickup trucks, according to the manufacturer, the new ZF-PowerLine transmission provides for enhanced comfort and improved fuel economy. ZF's agreement to supply Nissan with the new transmission is seen as an important milestone for the Gainesville, GA area, where the company's manufacturing facility has been supplying the automotive and off-highway industries since 1987. Since then, the plant has produced more than one million manual transmissions for light commercial vehicles.
