As a teenager, pop was stationed near Atlanta at a base with no dependent housing, so we moved into our first real home. It was a new world, filled with lawn mowers, paint brushes and "special projects." We had been in the house a little more than a year when my dad came home from the base late on a Friday afternoon and announced to us all: "We are going to build a brick patio this weekend." Talk about intimidated.
