English/Language Arts Students will: * identify and apply knowledge of the structure, elements, and literary techniques to analyze fiction. * deliver oral presentations. * identify similar ideas across a variety of narratives and stories. * use a variety of forms to write for different purposes. After the library media specialist and teacher evaluate (using tracking in Word), students continue working on final drafts in Google Docs with proofreading assistance for content. Students may: * publish a class booklet of two-minute mysteries. * compare a regular mystery story to the plot in a two-minute mystery. * read their two-minute mysteries to a grade level below or above theirs. * act out one of the mysteries for another class. * draw (instead of using words) a twominute mystery and see who can figure it out. * listen to music that is used in mystery movies and decide what makes it mysterious. * read two different mystery authors and compare their styles.
