VP of Operations Occupations: Construction operations, Facilities Management, Project Management, Purchasing We are a growing, specialized, sophisticated solution provider with a unique service in the alternative transportation industry. The VP of Operations is responsible for leading all internal functions of the company in the delivery of solutions to government and private industrial/commercial clients, as well as communicating best practices and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures to staff, contractors, and consultants at facilities nationwide. This includes all billable services as well as ongoing customer relationships for projects underway. Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years total operations management experience in a variety of roles and fields, including Commercial Construction, Retail Management, Field Management, Project Management, Purchasing, and Estimating. VP of Operations Responsibilities: • Oversee capital projects of $50,000 to $5,000,000. Experience with maintenance plans and funding requests is required. • Complete and deliver customer committed products and services at required levels of quality, timing and profitability. • Manage P&L accountability and responsibility for contract‐managed services. • Define and implement changes to internal processes to meet scalability and profitability targets using benchmark methodologies and technologies. • Interface with customer as it relates to the quality and timeliness of our services and the implementation of processes and systems to raise the level of our service across the organization. • Take ownership of deployment of performance management processes, initiatives, and metrics within the operations organization. • Be responsible for input in the consulting process, including functional design assistance. • Be a key member of the Executive Management team with very strong leadership of the strategic planning process and the implementation of cross company initiatives. • Have hiring authority over the operations team members as needed and will set and clearly communicate, motivate and lead objectives, monitor performance, and establish training and development plans for the Operations team. • Work with governmental agencies to secure appropriate construction permissions/permits. • Ensure that contracts are in compliance, pre‐and post delivery. • Be available for national and some international travel Desired Skills and Experience: • Strong Leadership Experience / Skills and a proven record of accomplishments • The ability to create, maintain and communicate clear operational policies and procedures. • Computer proficiency including strong working knowledge of Project Management and Estimating Software is also highly desirable. • Ability to work in a highly entrepreneurial, high‐growth environment with bureaucratic clients. • Clear communication skills are essential. This position reports directly to the CEO and interact with the Board of Directors. • Ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer service (internal and external.) Experience directing skilled, semi‐skilled and non‐skilled trade personnel. • The ability to form and maintain positive strategic partnerships is necessary. • Strong financial analysis and interpretation skills. • Strong technological skills are required. • Understanding of commercial real estate, public ROW, construction, and TOD and LEED principles. Qualifications • BS in Engineering and MBA or equivalent business experience including budgeting, finance, and planning. • Project Management certificate(s) desired. • 5‐10 years in similar position. • Experience managing multiple, simultaneous, geographically dispersed construction projects. • Complete commercial construction experience, including electrical, plumbing, etc. Compensation: Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
