The OSU Budgeters Club
Description of the OSU Budgeters? -The OSU Budgeters is a student run budget club creating organization dedicated to the advancement of students' budget abilities. Membership is open to all students regardless of skill level. Our meetings are usually held once a week on Fridays in the OSU library and are announced through our list serve. The club both attends and hosts a number of competitions put on by various budgeting groups throughout Oregon. The OSU Budgeters focuses on the following: 1) Educating OSU students about budgeting, 2) Creating a budgeting atmosphere on campus that promotes ethically and fiscally responsible individuals, 3) Assisting in the recruitment of future OSU students that are interested in budgeting. The OSU Budgeters has approximately 20 members and is always looking for more. Event descriptions and justifications? Guest speaker Mr. Fiscal We would like to have guest speaker known as Mr. Fiscal who travels all over the country lecturing business about the importance of budgeting properly. Mr. Fiscal has been noted in several very prominent magazines like the New York Times and Washington Post. We hope to have Mr. Fiscal speak about his experience, open up an avenue for discussion about budgeting, and have informational presentations on how to create an accurate yet adequate budget. Each year the Budgeters have facilitated bringing in a guest speaker and have been tremendously successful and this year will be no exception. Also, with this speaker we would like to have a catered meal for approximately 150 people and have ticket sales to off-set the cost of the event. Budgeters End of the Year Performance & Discussion The second event we would like to put on involves our end of the year extravaganza complete with budget trainings and discussion. This program will allow the Budgeters to meet and reflect on the previous fiscal year with a festive atmosphere. Also to celebrate the many accomplishments of the Budgeters with any and all OSU students who are willing to attend. Not only will this provide an exciting atmosphere around Budgeting, but it will serve to really get our organizations name out around the OSU campus. In addition, we would like to prepare a meal to create a community oriented atmosphere and decorate the Memorial Union ballroom. Also, we would like this event to be free to the public in order to have as many attend as possible. General Operating Supplies We are requesting money for general operating supplies. These supplies help assist our organization by allowing us to function as an organization. The lists of supplies used regularly are: photocopying, office supplies, and reference materials. The OSU Budgeters focuses on the following: 1) Educating OSU students about budgeting, 2) Creating a budgeting atmosphere on campus that promotes ethically and fiscally responsible individuals, 3) Assisting in the recruitment of future OSU students that are interested in budgeting. The OSU Budgeters has approximately 20 members and is always looking for more. Why an Increase in our budget? The Budgeters produced a wide range of events and programming to educate the OSU student body. We have consistently and appropriately spent out monies in accordance with the Ed-Act Guidelines etc. The OSU budgeters would like to submit a decision package because we have been presented with a unique opportunity. This opportunity is the ability to put on a seminar in the Peavy auditorium. This event would allow our organization to expand our influence more so than in the past. Not only would this continue to let students know about the Budgeters, but it will also allow an additional setting to interact with all student that are interested.
