Camtasia: Step 2 - Edit page 1 of 6 If you are creating a podcast episode or uploading to Blackboard, enter 480 in the Width and 320 in the Height box. Click “Change the video dimensions.” Camtasia: Step 2 - Edit page 2 of 6 Before you get started, go to File and select SAVE AS to save your Camtasia Project file. Save often! Edit Goal #1: Split your recording at every marker (green diamond). 1. 2. Click on a marker. Select the SPLIT icon in the Timeline Toolbar. Edit Goal #2: Insert a transition at each split 1. Under “Edit” click on Transitions (this will reveal the screen you see here). 2. Select a transition from the menu. 3. Drag it onto one of the arrows below (these are the “splits” you just inserted). 4. Continue this process for all splits, experimenting with different transitions. Camtasia: Step 2 - Edit page 3 of 6 Edit Goal #3: Record a screen movie! 1.Click on “Make a Recording.” 2.A new Camtasia Recording panel screen will open. Camtasia: Step 2 - Edit page 4 of 6 Tip! Prepare your screen for recording before beginning the next step. When youʼre ready, just locate the red Camtasia Recording box in your application toolbar at the bottom of your screen and click on it. 1. Click on the corner of the cross-hair and draig it across the area you want to record. 2. Now the “Camtasia Recorder Selection Area” box will appear. 3. Enter the Width and Height of your Camtasia recording. 4. Click on the icon of the lock to “Lock the Aspect Ratio.” 5. You may now grab the corner of the box and enlarge it without changing the dimensions of your recording. 6. When the size of the recording box is set, click RECORD. 7. Click F10 to stop recording. Camtasia: Step 2 - Edit page 5 of 6 After you stop recording, you will see a playback of your screen recording. If you are happy with it, click SAVE. If youʼd like to start over, click DELETE and return to Camtasia Studio to repeate the “Make a Recording” steps. After you click SAVE, save your file as “YourInitialsScreenRecording.camrec” into your personal folder in MyDocuments. Camtasia: Step 2 - Edit page 6 of 6 Edit Goal #4: Import Screen Recording into Timeline Click on “Import Media.” Browse for the .camrec file you just made and select it. A thumbnail of it will automatically appear in the “Clip Bin.” Click on the thumbnail of the screen recording and drag it onto any “split” area of the timeline below. 5. Your screen recording will now play as part of your movie! 6. You may want to add an additional transition before the movie you just inserted. 1. 2. 3. 4.
