All students except two got 24 points or more.

The average point scored of those passing was o 33.3 which is an excellent improvement on
previous years. Given that we are a non-selective school, encourage as many students as realistically
possible to attempt the full diploma, and given that German University requirements make some
students choose courses that are particularly challenging for them, the results are indeed laudable.

The top mark this year was Max Adolf with 44 points. Congratulations to Max who has spent his
entire 12 years of schooling at BBIS.

We will however strive to improve the results: not only in the number of students taking the
Diploma but their individual results. To this end we encourage our teachers to undertake
professional development specific to the IB Diploma, and try to keep classes realistically small.
Students should expect the support and commitment of our entire faculty and I am confident that if
they also work in an appropriate way, following the guidelines and deadlines we set, they can be
confident of success. Certainly the average class size of IB groups this present year of less than 9
students allows for teachers and students to work well together.

We anticipate that the new BBIS High School Diploma which we have successfully started this school
year will not only provide greater appropriate options for our students and become very popular,
but will further strengthen the IB classes. Ms Peters, the BBIS High School Diploma Coordinator, or
I can answer questions about this programme.
