One of the great advantages of the internet is that we do not have to wait for news!! Breaking news occurs by the hour and is transported worldwide instantaneously. We have already figured out that we can find what we need faster on the net. Ever tried waiting for a weather report when you really needed it? The internet is SO much faster than “snail” news! In the scientific world of psychology this is particularly important. There are over 600 professional journals and one cannot possibly keep current as a scientist as the information age has brought an explosion of new knowledge that needs to be transmitted, evaluated and assimilated into our present already unwieldly database of research and information on psychology. On the internet you can even subscribe to newsletters and journals and have them delivered electronically to your e-mail box! However this psychology computer lab focuses on accessing the news from sites that review multiple news sources and deliver to you what they believe is the most interesting information about our human nature and behavior. Usually the mental health newsrooms have analyses of current event topics from a psychological perspective.
