The Ministry of New Beginnings, part of the Phoenix Group, is a 32 year old Catholic oriented, non-denominational social support organization for the separated, divorced, widowed and single persons. Meetings are held every Monday (except holidays) at 7:30 p.m. in the Hughes Center in front of St. Matthews Church 1001 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg. Donation is $3 per meeting. Monday, September 1 - 11 a.m. New Beginnings Annual Labor Day Picnic at Tyler Creek Forest Preserve on Route 31, south of I-90 in Elgin. New Beginnings will provide the hot dogs, hamburgers, brats, buns, and condiments. Please bring a dish to share (for 8 people) along with your own beverage. No charge if you bring a dish, $5 if you do not bring a dish. Enjoy games, prizes and raffles. EVERYONE IS INVITED! RAIN OR SHINE IN THE PAVILLION. Join us this fall as we work through the book the Artist Way by Julia Cameron. This book is a 12-week course designed in discovering and recovering your creative self. Okay we are trying again… this time we hope the weather will let us be in the courtyard and this time we promise to remember the cheese! We had rain in June and had to have the party indoors, but it was a great time! This is a wonderful opportunity for new folks to come on by, and for all of us to just relax a bit, socialize with new and old friends, and enjoy the evening in the church courtyard. Join us anytime after 6 p.m. at Holy Family Church, Palatine Road, Inverness. If it is raining… look for signs to direct you at the church to our indoor location. $5 at the door. Drop in anytime between 3 p.m. and 1 a.m. at The Getz Building, 746 South Vermont Street, Palatine (between Plum Grove and Hicks Roads, off of Illinois Blvd). There will be gambling (blackjack, poker, roulette, craps) plus food and raffles. Split the pot jackpots all night. Look for the volunteers who are New Beginnings members - Fran, Cathy, Marianne, Sandy, LaVerne, and Paul!

The candidates will also present their goals and objectives for New Beginnings. We need everyone to come out and vote for your favorite candidates. Arthur will prepare appetizers for us! If we get more than 15 people, the cost is $17 for adults and $15 for seniors.
