RN-BS Online/Distance Completion Option for College of Southern Idaho Graduates The Department of Nursing at Boise State University supports RNs who wish to complete a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. College of Southern Idaho graduates are ideal candidates to complete this option as it is designed to assist the working nurse or new graduates of an Associate degree program. Online Delivery We offer flexible scheduling and course delivery in an online/distance format. Courses can be taken either part-time or full-time and you can select the courses you want in any given semester. Your Graduation Requirements You must complete the following to graduate: Undergraduate statistics* course 24 upper-division Boise State University nursing credits earning a “C” or better in each course. 6 additional credits to meet the Boise State University residency requirements.
NOTE: *The statistics course can be used as one of the courses to meet the residency requirement.
Cost There is a $20 application processing fee. Students, both resident and non-resident, pay a fee of $335 per credit for 2008-2009 academic year. Some courses may include a small technology fee. Fees do not include access to the recreation center, health center, student heath insurance or tickets to athletic events. graduates- a permanent license must be obtained prior to enrolling in any clinical course.

Selection Process The Associate Chair and Advisor for the RN-BS Online/Distance Completion Option will review all completed applications. Qualified applicants must meet requirements for admission to Boise State University. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds capacity, applications will be ranked according to the date of receipt. Qualified applicants not placed in one semester will be admitted in subsequent semesters. Applicants will be notified of admission via email or U.S. mail. On successful completion of 12 credits at Boise State University, you will receive credit for 7 courses (13 credits). Also, since NURR 201 has a Pathophysiology component, you will not need to take HLTHST 300. You will receive credit for taking this course during transcript evaluation.

A fee of $160 is charged with the submission of the appropriate forms. Program completion can take place on a full-time or part-time basis. It will take a minimum of three semesters to complete the program, if attending full-time. Technology Requirements Boise State University emphasizes the ability to utilize computer skills along with various software packages in the educational setting. Computer skills needed to succeed in the nursing program include work processing along with use of the Internet and e-mail. Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer (6.0 or greater) are recommended. Both of these products are recommended for compatibility with the Internet course delivery program, Blackboard, which is used by Boise State University. You will be required to use their Boise State email address for these courses. If you do not have a computer and Internet access at home, Boise State University provides on-campus computer labs. Boise State University Graduation Requirements It is important when you submit your transcripts from College of Southern Idaho indicate you have received an Associate degree, other wise you will need to meet Boise State University’s core requirements. You must complete a minimum total of 128 credits to obtain a baccalaureate degree. Of those 128 credits, at least 40 must be in upper-division courses (courses numbered 300 or higher). You must complete 30 of your last 36 credits at Boise State (residency requirement). No more than 1/3 (42 credits) can be earned through credit for prior learning for graduation. Credit for prior learning includes: CLEP, AP, DANTES, PEP, Challenges and Portfolios. Credits earned through any form of experiential learning /prior learning can not count toward the 30 credit graduation residency requirement.
