In order to produce real change in both staffing in and content of new media, so that we do have that informed citizenry, it is imperative that college students get their dose of the reality of diversity before they leave the classroom, hence, the dreaded diversity class. Journalism students and professionals are generally used to being presented stories to learn newsgathering and reporting skills, so using great stories as an entree to deeper discussions on diversity as crucial to fair, accurate reporting shouldn't be a difficult transition for them.
