In a survey of The Institute of Credit Management's 8,500 Members, 90% of respondents reported a marked slowdown in the service being provided by the courts, with delays of up to a month in having their judgments processed now being widely reported. There are 218 civil courts in England and Wales dealing with disputes over debt repayment, personal injury, breach of contract concerning goods or property, family issues and house repossessions. The survey, which asked for details of specific experiences of court performance, was instigated earlier in the year following approaches by a number of ICM Members.
