The U.S. House Judiciary Committee passed the Credit Card Fair Fee Act on July 16 as Iowa bankers were meeting in Okoboji. Opposition to the legislation spreads industry wide. Ed Yingling, president/CEO of the American Bankers Association, voiced opposition. One day after the committee passed the legislation, U.S. Rep. Steve King, (R-Iowa) talked about the bill at the HB convention's Town Hall breakfast. Rep. King described his support for the legislation, while Larry Winum of Glenwood State Bank in Glenwood, Iowa, voiced his opposition.
