The challenge of being eco-faithful

When the men at Floradale (Ont.) Mennonite Church began a group of their own, the first thing they wanted to do was encourage environmental stewardship in their congregation. Pastor Fred Redekop, pictured, credits two of the senior men for the initiative. As a result, they purchased 250 reusable fabric shopping bags, added a "green" logo designed by a youth, their church name, and the words "Let's go green!" The bags sell for $3 each, but members are also encouraged to give them away to others. About half the bags have been sold, reports Redekop.
