Production activity in manufacturing declined again in May. According to seasonally and working-day adjusted data, industrial production dropped by 0.8% compared to April. The number of persons employed in manufacturing thus remained at the level of May 2007, but dropped by 776 compared to November 2007, when it reached its 12-month high. According to the quarterly survey on the limiting factors to production, an increasing number of companies face insufficient domestic and foreign demand. On the other hand, the share of companies reporting a shortage of skilled labor as the main obstacle to production, which was characteristic of the previous year and a half, decreased.
