Blade Runner: Boeing to Develop a 40-Ton-Capacity, Heavy-Lift Hybrid Aircraft by ProQuest

During the first week of July 2008, U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing Co. and SkyHook International Inc., a privately owned company based in Alberta, Canada, announced a teaming agreement to develop a radically unconventional hybrid heavy-lift airship that the companies claim will be capable of lifting a 40-ton payload and carrying it 200 miles. The venture partners said the aircraft will be capable of lifting a 40-ton sling load and transporting it up to 200 miles without refueling in harsh environments such as the Canadian Arctic, Alaska and in other undeveloped regions where land and water transportation methods may be inadequate, unreliable and costly.
