At the same time complexity is multiplying, our finance education is badly lagging. We certainly don't learn how to manage money in school - only three states require a course in personal finance for high school students. Even many graduate programs in business don't teach the fundamentals of interest rates or insurance policies. Financial education is starting to improve, as evidenced by the federal government's recent establishment of the President's Council on Financial Literacy.
