Truck and engine manufacturers have introduced numerous innovations in new truck models responding to ever-changing environmental regulations and the need to reduce the greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. Olen Hunter, director of sales, PACCAR Leasing, says truck leasing can be a crucial strategy in accomplishing your company's transportation needs particularly if you want to take advantage of emerging technology which is rapidly advancing in trucks in shorter and shorter cycles, he says. But before making the decision about whether to lease or buy a new piece of equipment, Hunter says there are five questions you should ask yourself: 1. What is the best use of your company's capital? 2. Is transportation your core competency? 3. Do you know what the true cost of ownership represents? 4. What information or data do you need to make a lease/own comparison? 5. What are the perceived benefits of ownership and leasing?
