Field trip to the NOAA fisheries laboratory by ProQuest

According to AOCS member Michael B. Rust, program manager for the sustainable aquaculture program at the Northwest Fisheries Science Center and guide for the tour, salmon farms in Washington state produce about 20 million pounds (9,000 metric tons) of fish annually, second in the United States behind Maine, which produces about 30 million pounds. The new group, which was initiated by Andrew Proctor of the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville, USA), will focus on three main areas: (i) collecting and posting course syllabi, prerequisites, and book selections for lipid courses; (ii) developing a resource page on the AOCS website that will include public access resources (including websites) commonly referred to by students; and (iii) creating a global database of lipid and food science programs.
