[Denise Lawson] has gone from hauling used furniture into the office to helping with clients every week at the Goshen horse farm where [Meredith] and her three partners (all women) run their nonprofit horse therapy program. Forward Motion, Inc. There, on a picture-perfect, 40-acre farm, Denise primarily works as a "side walker," the person who stays next to the horse during a session to ensure the safety of the rider."I am not sure how much of an impact I have on those I help as a volunteer," Denise says. "The impact and reward comes to me the volunteer, knowing that I am able to help in a great cause and by helping those that are not as fortunate as myself."
