Alberta's oil sands deposits, which are second only to Saudi Arabia reserves, have been described as "Canada's greatest buried treasure." If you talk to Jack Graham, who serves as Academic Chair for Electrical Trades at SALT Polytechnic, Calgary, Alberta, you get the sense the economy in the region is running at full-tilt. The energy sectors tends to be a big draw for engineering students graduating from the University of Alberta as well. It isn't just colleges and universities in western Canada supplying talent for the pipeline into the energy industry. The College of North Atlantic is Newfoundland and Labrador's public college.
