                             Ole Kirk Christiansen
                                created the Lego
                             brick. But before the
 Ole Kirk Christiansen
                             brick was invented he
lived in Billund,Denmark.      made wooden toys
   He was a master                first in 1932.
carpenter. He also had
   help from his son
   Godtfed when he
     created legos.
    How are
     Lego's
     made?    Step 1: The Lego
              brick starts out as a
              granule about the
Step 1-2      size of a grain of

              rice.



              Step 2: Then the
              granule is sucked up
              from a plastic
              container then stored
              in one of the 14
              silos.

 Lego's    Step 3: The
           granules then are
 made?     piped to a molding
           machine.
Step 3-4   Step 4: Inside the
           molding machines the
           granules are heated
           to 455 degrees
3-4        Fahrenheit which
           melts them together
           into a toothpaste like
           goo.
    How Are
               Step 5: Next the
     Lego's    molds apply 28-165
     Made?     tons of pressure to
               shape each brick to

    Step 5-6   the right size 0.0002
               so each brick can
               now fit each other.
               In 10-15 seconds
               the bricks harden.



               Step 6: Next the
6              bricks travel on a
               short conveyor belt,
               then dropped into a
               box.

   Step 7-8

Step 7: The boxes
then travel to a large
warehouse that has
space for 424,000
boxes.



Step 8:When the
bricks are needed
they will be shipped
to a factory so they
can be bagged then
placed in boxes.

   bricks are bagged
   they now get ready
   to get boxed and
   sent out to stores!
