The ‘Automatic Liquid Soap Dispenser’ makes another important addition to any
washroom, providing hygienic touch-free operation. Its A.B.S casing is vandal
resistant and incorporates a ‘Battery Low’ indicator, it can also be mounted
without any drilling. The dispenser has a battery life of 10,000 operations, or
1 year of usage.

WC Flushing System
The DVS No-Touch WC Flushing System is an electronically
operated drop valve which replaces the traditional syphon and
delivers a measured volume of water from the cistern to the
lavatory bowl. A simple wave of a hand pass the fitted sensor will
activate the electronic flushvalve.

The optimum quantity of water from each flush is pre-set and
accurately controlled.

No-Touch
WC Flushing System
Electronically operated, the Flushvalve delivers a measured
volume of water upon activation. The Timer can be adjusted to any
setting between 1 and 9 seconds, with each second representing
approximately 1 litre of water. The Flushvalve is activated when
the user’s hand comes within 50mm of the sensor (touch pad
sensors can be fitted if required) and a 35 second delay
mechanism prevents abuse between flushes by the user.
An electromagnetic solenoid coil is central to the operation of the
Flushvalve. Upon activation, an electromagnetic field is created
within the upper part of the body. This draws up a metal pin which
instantly opens the valve and releases the water full bore through
the flush pipe into the WC or urinal. At the end of the timed
flushing cycle, the electrical supply is cut off thereby deactivating

Why are councils fitting DVS WC Flushvalves?
Wiltshire County Council conducted extensive tests and justifies the fitting of WC Flushvalves
on water savings.

West Devon District Council was having major problems in public toilets with broken handles.
These problems have been totally eliminated since fitting the WC Flushvalves.

Hunstanton District Council put a trial of 6 valves in a toilet block with 18 W.C.'s. The toilet
block was opposite the fair ground and considered to be the most problematic of their public
toilet. The 6 units where the Flushvalves have been fitted have been free of blockages and in
full use. The toilets where the Flushvalves have been fitted are also noticeably tidier and more
popular. The council is now going to fit the W.C. Flushvalves in all their public toilets for a
number of reasons.

Chorley Borough Council - Media Release
Flushed with Success
Council Chiefs in Chorley are flushed with success over their latest money-saving initiative.
As part of an on-going programme the Local Authority is constantly looking at ways to be more
energy efficient and to conserve valuable resources.
Now, those principles have been applied to one of Chorley's busiest public buildings - The
Market public conveniences in Cleveland Street.
The Council have had traditional siphons and handles in the ladies toilets replaced with the
latest solenoid valves and flushing sensors. The result has been a dramatic drop in
water usage.
In fact the installation of the devices is cutting the amount of water used by a massive 30 per
cent, which is set to save the Council over £1,200 every year.
Such has been the extent of the saving the Council Chiefs now hope to extend the provision of
the devices into the gents toilets, and possibly other public conveniences locally, next year.
Executive Member for Community Services, Councilor Mary Wilson, said, 'Although the seven
devices cost £1,100 to supply and fit they will pay for themselves within a year. The beauty of
them is that as well as saving water there is also a saving in on-going maintenance costs.'
The sensor activated flushing devices are easier to use, particularly for elderly and disabled
people, who often find the mechanical push-button type awkward. Also, the hand sensors are
more reliable and less susceptible to vandalism.
Chorley Council is committed to conserving resources and being as energy efficient as possible.
It is also good to see we can be innovative and pro-active in this field'.

Chorley Borough Council’s website:
“We are undertaking a programme of replacing traditional toilet flush levers and siphon flush

Urinal Controls
Our urinal control range has been designed and developed by
highly skilled engineers. The units are easy to install and
extremely versatile in its operation.
Variable settings allow adjustable time delays between flushing,
providing maximum efficiency and savings.
Operation is simple. A passive infrared (PIR) detector detects
movement within the ‘sensing area’, switching the unit into a
timing mode.
After a pre-set time, the separately installed solenoid valve opens.
Water flows into the cistern and therefore activates the
flushing cycle.
The fill-time for the cistern can be customised by the user using
the appropriate switches on the Flushmatic board.
The systems’ fast fill design helps eliminate scale problems
associated with slow or drip fed systems.
An automatic flush every 12 hours is also programmed into the
unit, should the system not be used during that time.

What are the Benefits of Automatic Taps?
Hygiene
Automatic taps are the most hygienic option available for hand washing. This is a very
important aspect for everybody, but of increased importance where people are handling food,
or where cross contamination needs to be avoided (such as hospitals).
Reliability
Our automatic taps have been extensively developed and tested to achieve the current high
levels of reliability. Quotation from Dean Hazell of James Paget Hospital "We first started
trialing Dart Valley Systems’ automatic taps over two years ago they have been totally reliable,
and are good value for money. Whilst our main consideration is hygiene to avoid cross
contamination, automatic taps also make significant savings on water".
Water Savings
Non-concussive push taps make a significant saving over the conventional twist taps. This is
due to controlling the water flow and ensuring the taps are not left running.
Electronic taps use the "optimum" amount of water. We normally fit a 6 litre flow reducing
aerator on the spout to control the flow of water and the taps only run when the hands are
placed under the spout, limiting the water use to the precise time required.
The following table is an indication of figures estimated from practical experience. For this
exercise we have assumed a site with 25 people averaging 4 hand washes a day, 5 days per
week, 50 weeks per year.

Justification for installation of Push Taps
Background
The average screw head tap will deliver approx 12 ltrs per minute when turned partially on. On
average a screw head tap is left on for 15 seconds. The assumption would be that a person
washes their hands 4 times per day, therefore, each person would use 12 ltrs per day.
With a DVS selectable flow rate push tap installed, the flow rate can be adjusted to run from
4 ltrs per minute and the time on can be reduced to between 3 and 11 seconds. The biggest
benefit however is that the push tap cannot be left running as you do not have to touch the tap
to turn it off.
Assumption for Water Saving Projection
400 Personnel on site washing their hands 4 times per day would be using 4,800 ltrs of water
per day. Depending on the setting you set the Push Tap set for, you would reduce this to 2,400
ltrs of water per day. Saving 2,400 ltrs per day x 260 working days = 624,000 ltrs of water per
annum.
You would also be saving energy costs on the hot water side and this will be a bigger cost
saving than the water itself.
The DVS QK230 push tap has many advantages over and above the normal push tap.

Contaminated air is drawn into the Airsan unit through a pre-filter

Thermostatic Mixing Valve
A highly advanced TMV3 approved thermostatic mixing valve for
use in basin, shower, bidet and high pressure bathfill applications
(above 1 bar).
The valve is designed to control the mixed water outlet
temperature to within +/- 2oC regardless of fluctuations in the
temperature and pressure of the hot and cold water supplies, and
to shut the mixed water outlet instantly in case of hot or cold
water failure*.
It incorporates a unique purpose-built adjuster key so that
standard tools cannot be used by unauthorised persons to change
the set outlet temperature.
*Supply conditions must remain within limits stated.

event of a blockage, the valve can be reversed with a half turn of a

totally impedes the flow, making the unit into an isolating valve Restrictaflow saves you: 14 litres/min
thus allowing tap maintenance without turning off the whole (dependent on BAR pressure)
supply. If you are considering fitting isolating valves, by installing
Restrictaflow you get all these benefits at no extra cost.
A further and important advantage is that you can identify
immediately where they are fitted. With restrictors fitted inside
taps it is not obvious wether they have been removed by a
maintenance engineer.
