SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR APPLICATION FOR THE GRANTS-IN-AID FOR
CLINICS PROGRAM, FISCAL YEAR (FY) 2007-2008
Purpose
The purpose of this letter is to transmit the enclosed Request for Application (RFA), for
the Grants-In-Aid for Clinics (GIA) Program for FY 2007-2008. The objective of the GIA
Program is to support and stabilize the infrastructure and health care operations of
community, free, or exempt clinics.
Available Funding
The total funding available for FY 2007-2008 is $645,000. The GIA Program awards
are limited to a maximum of $60,000 and a minimum of $10,000.
Applicant Eligibility Criteria
Under Title 22, Division 2, Part 2, Subdivision 6, Chapter 5, Article 2, Section 40525,
eligibility for funding under the GIA for Clinics Program is limited to the following:
Licensed community or free primary care clinics as defined in Health and Safety
(H&S) Code, Section 1204 (a)(1)(A) and 1204 (a)(1)(B), that were licensed and
provided primary health care services on or prior to January 1, 1980, and Indian
clinics exempt from licensure under Section 1206 (c) of the H&S Code that
provided primary health care services on or prior to January 1, 1980;

An incorporated association of community or free clinics, as defined in Title 22,
Division 2, Part 2, Subdivision 6, Chapter 5, Article 1, Section 40507, that are
non-profit, comprised of not less than three clinics, and have a combined service
area covering an entire county or more. A majority of members of the governing
board of such a corporation shall be representatives of clinics that would
otherwise be eligible for funding; and,
Submission Deadline
Applications with original signatures must be received at the Primary and Rural
Health Division by Close of Business (5:00 PM) on December 21, 2007. Please refer to
pages 1, 15 and 18 of the RFA for more details.
