                                                            Did you Know?

West Mifflin Imaging has the latest tool for colorectal cancer screening called a Virtual Colonoscopy. If you have been
putting off having a colonoscopy because of the invasive nature of a traditional colonoscopy, consider the advantages of a
     virtual colonoscopy.

According to a recent article by the Wall Street Journal, virtual colonoscopies
are just as effective as traditional, or “optical,” colonoscopies at detecting
polyps, the potentially cancerous growths that may lead to colon cancer.

Instead of optical colonoscopies, however, which require inserting a camera
through the rectum, virtual colonoscopies are non-invasive.

Although virtual colonoscopies are not covered by most medical insurances,
they often cost less than optical colonoscopies and may prove to be a
lifesaving test for those individuals who avoid optical colonoscopies because
of the discomfort and embarrassment often associated with them.
