Denver Botanic Gardens is pioneering a new concept in audio tours: the cell phone audio tour. This innovative technology, provided by Guide by Cell (www.guidebycell.com), allows visitors to access recordings by Gardens staff via their own cell phones. The call is free, costing you only your airtime. Visitors can listen to recordings in any order or frequency. Currently, we are featuring audio stops about Chapungu: Custom and Legend, A Culture in Stone. Tropical Plants and Insects Interpretive Trail
In keeping with our year-long celebration of the insect world and its relationship to plants, we have developed a special tour of tropical plants and the insects they depend on (and vice versa!). Learn about the sophisticated pollination strategies of orchid flowers; view carnivorous plants up close; watch ants stream in and out of their home on a rain forest tree limb; and read about exclusive plant-insect relationships that highlight the amazing diversity and frailty of our global ecosystems. This trail links together with a special plant display in the Lobby Court by our Information Desk. Location: Boettcher Memorial Tropical Conservatory Dates: Through October 2007
Elevated CO2 and warming is predicted to increase plant production in Colorado's shortgrass steppe, but only during wet years. These climatic changes are predicted to reduce soil moisture content.
