June 2008 – September 2008 Virtual Officer, Inc.: Assisted in the research, development, and software testing of a “virtual human” that is capable of talking with eyewitnesses and administering photographic line-ups. Directed a team of six undergraduate students who were tasked with conducting additional experiments to validate the data derived from virtual human to real human comparisons. Human-computer Interaction (HCI) techniques were implemented in the development phase and an advanced statistical analysis was performed to measure the effectiveness of a virtual human compared to a human. January 2007 – May 2008 Battlefield Augmented Reality Systems, Inc.: Contractor. Direct implementation team member responsible for an interface build-out for a new Augmented Reality System at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. Formatted information and occlusion algorithms for a stronger, more coherent, transparent interpretation of the augmented scenes using OpenSceneGraph and QT Windowing. May 2007 – August 2007 Virtual Recruiter: Research Assistant. Co-designed an interactive virtual human to recruit high school students and college freshman into the field of Computer Science. September 2006 – December 2006 Virtual Iraq: Summer internship. Implemented combat related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) scenarios using the Gamebryo Game Engine, Maya, and Lua scripting. Developed a user interface for a tablet PC that allows clinical therapists to execute scenarios. Partnered with artists and psychologists at the University of Southern California’s Institute for Creative Technologies to gain insights and recommendations on design/scenario enhancements.
