The reputation of consulting firms is based on their people and experience. HTL
Consulting is led by Martin Gerty and Mark Phillips, who have approaching 50 years
experience of advising clients in the hotel, tourism and leisure sectors. This follows
operational hotel and resort management experience in Europe, North America and
the Caribbean. Our clients come from the widest spectrum of those involved in the
world’s most dynamic industry including governments, international tourism and
planning organisations, international hotel management companies, financial

Our senior team comprises:

•   Martin Gerty, BSc, FTS: a graduate of the University of Surrey, Martin gained
    hotel management experience in the UK, America and the Caribbean. He has
    carried out consultancy work since 1978 throughout Europe, Africa, and the
    Middle East, particularly in Francophone countries. He has written widely on real
    estate, tourism, and hotel development matters and allied to his extensive expertise
    of market and financial appraisal of hotel, tourism and real estate projects, he has
    been team leader for major international tourism planning and development
    projects in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.

•   Mark Phillips, BSc, MHCIMA: Mark has been advising clients in the hotel and
    tourism sector since 1987. With a degree from University of Surrey and
    operational experience, he specialises in hotel project appraisal, project
    development and management contract advice. He has worked extensively in
    Europe Africa and the Middle East where he has been involved in city centre,
    resort and mixed use projects.

•   Colin Clark MA: Colin qualified in law prior to his directorships of the British
    Tourist Authority and the English Tourist Board, where his responsibilities
    included policy development, human resources, strategic planning, research
    programme evaluation, industry training, private and public sector liaison and
    international relations. Colin is the British representative to the European
    Standards Organisation’s Committee on Tourism Standards. Since becoming a
    director of HTL Consulting (formerly Horwath UK), Colin has directed major
    research projects and client assignments in a variety of European countries.

From our London base, HTL Consulting works extensively in Europe (including the

knowledge and experience of the tourism and hotel industry is extensive, enabling us
